Well, I never said that going to college was a TOTAL WASTE or anything like that, my wife is in the nursing program at a local tech college right now...and I'm sure that will pay huge dividends. I just said that it wasn't TOTALLY NECESSARY in order to make a good, comfortable living. But yes, in certain fields it definitely helps. Like I said, last year was a slow year for me, and I've only been on this job 4 years. I'm really still near the bottom of the totem pole....Once I'm a full time spray painter I'll be making $45K-$55K a year, but once again you're right, I'll be working my ass off. I've been doing so since i was 18 years old, and I've come to grips with the fact that I'll probaly be doin so my entire life. Some ppl are able to push pencils in the A/C their whole careers and make ridiculous amounts of $$$, I just wasn't able to swing it. And to be honest, that really isn't my style anyways. I know one thing, college doesn't teach work ethic and competence...I see examples of that everyday. And another thing, you couldn't get my mom to take off her panties for $11k. She's been making $65k a year for AT LEAST the last 15 years, and guess what??....she doesn't have a college education. ;)

Correction, CSpec, Liberal Arts colleges don't teach work ethic or competency. Nobody here is going for a degree in the arts, so save it.

Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College...it's located right here in Tifton, GA. I know and have known LOTS of kids who go or have gone to school there, and 3/4's of the kids have been doing nothing more than wasting mommy and daddy's money while they half ass attempt to pass core classes. I couldn't tell they were learning much of ---- about surviving and financially maintaining in the real world. What they're really interested in doing is partyin', ------', and then partyin' some more. When I was there age I was already working a FULL TIME job and bringin' in enough to pay my own bills and be complete self-sufficient. And I was still able to do LOTS of partyin', ------', and more partyin'. Only difference is I was wasting my money not my parent's and not money that I was gonna have to be payin' back for 10-20 years down the road. I have ENORMOUS AMOUNTS OF RESPECT for kids(and adults) who pay for their own college education and see to it that that money isn't going to waste.
