Default ANOTHER DSM THAT WONT START

ok fellas well my buddy bought a 90 talon tsi .... the guy he bought it from is a pretty good friend of mine that i trust ... he was driving the car one day and it started to over heat... he said before the gauge maxed out he shut the car down ..let it cool off for awhile and then try starting it again .. well it wouldnt start back up ... the reason it over heated was becouse a coolant line broke so he replaced the coolant line and took it home.. tried starting it still nothing ... the car seems like its just not turning over hard enough .. even with a brand new battery ... it turns over the motor isnt seized or anything ... then we did a compression test even though it wasn't turning over very hard the results wer ..... 0-0-0 and like 8 psi on cyl. number four.... what im wondering is it possible to jump the timing that much that there would be 0 compression on 3 of the cylinders... or if its not turning over hard enough would it build compression any answers or ideas would help.. this is our first time working on one... thanks in advance

If it over heated long enough it could wrap the head and your headgasket would leak = low to NO compression,
Check all the plugs for oil/coolet, check dipstick, look inside the valve cover for miky/ muddy oil.

If engine is not turning over fast enough then yes the compression will read low.

First things first. When you overheat a car bad the headgasket is the most obvious part that will break/wear first. So naturally our first step here would be to either just man up and replace the HG (easy 1-2 hour job even if it is your first time) or you could just even check for the signs of a blown HG (oil in coolant, and vice versa. aka chocolate milk coolant)

Well, beyond that, there is no reason that your engine should be getting #'s that low on a compression test. Are you pressing the throttle down 100% while doing the test? Try pouring some oil down in the cylinder and then testing it. If you do have a fucked headgasket (the most likely situation) you will probably want to get the head resurfaced, or at least checked out. The blocks are iron, you shouldn't have to worry about it having any warpage just yet.

If your somewhere here in the northwest I can put you in contact with a local person to give you a hand, hell theres always a DSM guy around to help
