Congrats man, my fiance and I looked for over a year for a house. We locked in at 5.875%. I guess you don't get too much out there for the money!

Not anymore. The lots out here have dried up. There aren't a whole lot left in the city. It was supposed to be a "planned" city of X amount of homes and I'm pretty sure they have went over that already. Rich Californians and rich snowbirds pretty much own this town. Californians come here with their big boats and hot/drunk/naked/horny/willing/slutty women in the summer and the old people come here in the winter. Needless to say Summertime is ALOT more fun.

I hate to be harsh because a lot of people got fucked up this problem and its left the real estate market in shambles, but anyone who thought a sub prime mortgage was a good idea and thought you really could buy a home with no down payment is absolutely retarded.
the problem wasn't that i couldn't afford the house, the problem was i could not prove income so i got an 8% interest rate which in my opinion was not that bad for no money down and not being able to prove income.
when that rate jumped to about 20% and my wifes and my income got cut in half we could not afford the house anymore.
then our income got cut even more when my wife got pregnant because she could not strip anymore.
we went from 150-200k a year to about 50k combined.
i don't blame anyone for us losing our house like other people do. it seems like everyone is blaming the finance companies, but like you said most of the people were just retarded.

We paid $149900 for a 1200 sq ft cape about 5 years ago. In CT you don't get much for your money. We could get in the $185 range and we put a good chunk down so we will be selling hopefully next year. With the 2nd child due in April we will need the room and I need a 3 car garge for the Jeeps.

Welcome to the downside of not declaring your income. Yes it is great to not pay the government 30% of your paycheck, but when it comes time to buy a house, well, you got fucked. The answer would have been to actually save some of that money so you could have made a nice sized down payment. Then you wouldn't have been stuck in sub prime mortgage hell and you'd still have your house. You could have also declared some of your wife's income, paid the money to the government but in the end got a decent loan so again, you weren't in sub prime mortgage hell.

Also, don't drop "oh, my wife is a stripper and makes 150k a year" and not post pictures. You should know better.

Some retard on here was trying to argue with me about how buying a house isn't a good investment. I think it was that homo "rawr". :1 The kid lives with his parents and has no real world experience with ANYTHING, but he's trying to convince me buying a house isn't a good investment. :1
that was also me arguing with you, but my point was buying a house thinking youre gonna make money if you sell it in 5 years is a bad idea. buy a house because you want something thats yours and dont want to waste money on rent, not because you think its a good "investment". buying a house now is def. not a good "investment" unless your gettting a sick deal on a foreclosure.

That could be true or 100% bullshit, depends on your market.
