Alternator interchangeability?
I'm just curious; my alternator out of my 90 si bolted to my d16z6 just took a ----.
Can i throw an obd1 alternator on there? |

I think they bolt up but plugs are different, pull the back off and check the bruses, 9times out of 10 thats all thats wrong :P

from looking on the net they seem to be interchangeable... i'd just like to know before i make a trip to get something |

Yup! I'm doing it but the other way around. d16z6 replaced a d16a6 on my ZC LONG time ago.
FYI though. Check the amperage. I know z6 Alt. are 70amp, the a6 might be a 50amp or a 60amp. 60amp isn't so bad, but watch you headlight dim with the 50amp. I know this too. I put a 90 dx alt on my motor before the z6 and wow did lights dim at night. |

I put a 90 dx alt on my motor before the z6 and wow did lights dim at night. im not pulling anywhere near 50a with all my ----; i ran around for a half hour last night with my little toy battery in the trunk with probably a 75% charge; still had enough juice to start the car when i got home; and i was using the headlights the entire time |
