i thought one of the biggest oil reserves was in alaska or canada but we couldn't drill it because of the tree hugging hippies said it would disrupt the wildlife?

We already do, just not in mass amounts.

the problem we are having is that petrolium is a byproduct of oil and because we can make oil we are having trouble getting petrolium from it.

It makes people more aware except for the ignorant that say i make this and this amount of money that it doesn't matter how much gas cost, I can afford it. The fly car i saw that prototype back in middle school like over 10 years ago. I dont know what their plans are, I just plan on keeping up with them.

pretty much dead on with changing over. as well as setting up stations for alternative fuels. right now it's just not economically sound to start setting up hydrogen stations and the like. i personally don't know what to think about how much oil is left in the ground. more than people like this site say, but less than the oil companies would like you to believe.

There's more in the ground that than what the oil companies say. They can't price gouge if there's a surplus of oil. So its easier to say there's always a shortage so they can justify the high prices

the government does not want us to use alternate fuels, gasoline is money in thier pocket. george bush is a retard for blowing up other countries and making us pay for it. there is no gas shortage and the prices only go up on fuel for the government to pay off debts. if george bush knew how much money it would cost him to blow up some towel head country and rebuild it then he must have known he could screw over everyone in this country for thier money to pay for it. even hybrid gas/electric cars are taxxed for thier lack of fuel consumption. add up all the taxxes you pay including every dollar you spend at the store, high priced gas, what comes out of your paycheck every week and multiply that by the number of working people in the united states. thats a shitload of money. this country is just in sereous debt , in my opinion from bad decisions made by the government. ---- BUSH and all the fucktards who stick up for him.

Im still payin ~$2.05....for 93 octane. ;)

you do know that people in the states are getting better rates than you right?

That's right people in the states getting gas cheaper than 2.05 a gallon and it's the same quality.

Who you ask? The people that work at the refineries 'n ----. They pay a dollar a gallon still. Just bring their car to work and fill up.

So someone in HMT go work for one and hook me up!

btw, frank I wasn't attacking you or anything, I just used your quote cause you specified a cheap price and I was able to intergrate my info with it quite well. You know you one of the homies ;)

I'm not sure how gasoline is taxed, but I can't see the government making much on just the taxes of increasing pump prices. Of course they are behind it somehow making cash, but if you think about the taxes of gas, I don't think that's where it's at.

If gas is taxed as a standard number per gallon, than the price going up won't net any extra tax per gallon.

If gas is taxed as a percentage per gallon, than they will make more per gallon, but the price is higher and I'm sure use of gasoline has a drop because people are conserving, so that would equal out to the same tax income (you could assume)

I think it's more of a government to supplier issue than it is government to end users, but that's just my thoughts.

funny you should mention that. i was actually at the pump today and saw a sticker stating percentages of state and federal taxes taken out and it said at least 43 cents was taken out (this is assuming that it's price is >1.00). also, we can't forget that prices of crude oil are rising as well, so it's not just american oil companies that are price gouging, although i think they play one of the biggest parts of it. Supposedly the FTC is just now starting to investigate it, so hopefully we'll see lower prices within the next 4 months or so (beside normal price lowering during the winter months)
