aliment + traction bars
so before i can insure my car i have to do a safety and body integrity inspections
and for those i need to do aliment i figure i should put my springs and shocks in before i go so i dont have to do it 2 times but im wondering about traction bars any one know it they can change your aliment when installed and/or can a shop do it with them installed? |
Re: aliment + traction bars
depends on the traction bars, but I would hope that you bought one that is adjustable...
may as well throw the suspension in and skip the second alignment, just make sure you'll be fine for ground clearance for your inspection. if not, spend the extra money on the second alignment. |
Re: aliment + traction bars
i haven't bought the traction bar yet (getting for a buddy who makes them )
and im going to throw the springs in before so that i dont have to go for a second time also thinking about rear control arms for when i want to throw in a sway bar |
Re: aliment + traction bars
Install the traction bars and dial in as much positive castor as you can get.
You will need to realign the vehicle after you do so, period. |

Re: aliment + traction bars
Show me a "lowered to be cool" Honduh with good bushings. :P

Positive caster would be the tire sitting closer to the fron bumper yes? Yes, but unfortunately it creates a really, REALLY BAD toe-out situation. I just knocked the tierods loose and turned them both the amount of times to bring it back to center...ish, or a least so that it doesn't want to pull like mad once the steering gets a little off center. |
Re: aliment + traction bars
This works fine for adjustable bars, but what if you're like me and stuck with a modded x-member for now and need to add more caster? After my last alignment with DA integra spindles we noticed my caster was sitting at less than 2 degrees positive, and even the stock spec is supposed to sit closer to +4 degrees. I need to add more caster big time, the car likes to wander on the highway, but still turns in to a corner like a mofo. >:D

:l Step away from the car. |
Re: aliment + traction bars
alright, not trying to threadjack but I have a similar question and don't want to start another thread for it:
I'm not worried about getting the absolute best performance out of the jk motorsport traction bars I'll be throwing on the crx. I'd rather keep pretty much stock settings and not be as abusive to the bushings. If I just pop it on and take it to a shop to get it aligned, are they going to be able to figure it out ? |

I drive a 90 crx so am not worried about it, but curious anyway. |
Re: aliment + traction bars
he means to say, make sure your get the second generation jkmotorspots traction bar. Witch had newer bracket hardware were it bolts up to the lower control arm.

Here let's make this simple, I've attached the zoomed/cropped phone pic but you should be able to tell what version it is.
Am I safe or do I need to get the 2nd version hardware? It's not on yet :P Doug is supposed to help rip the z6 block out of my totalled crx this weekend since the z6 some dickbag on h-t sold me had a spun/shredded bearing. Battery relocation, turbo fitment, etc etc next weekend, might even have time to rebuild the block! ;D :6 |
Re: aliment + traction bars
You can't tell with that pic.
Let me make this a little clearer if I could... Where the other bars (not the one in your pic) attach to the lower control arm is the major design flaw of the first version bars. The 2nd gen attachers to the LCA have two bolts per side, wheras the 1st gen setup had one per side. If you have the first gen hardware, wait on installing it till you have the new stuff. My friend almost lost his crx to the 1st gen hardware failing. |
Re: aliment + traction bars
Ahhhhhh so the two uhhh adjustable rods (radius rods?) are supposed to have two bolt holes on each side? Mine only have 1 per side (total of 2 per rod)
Who do I contact about gen 2 stuff? |
Re: aliment + traction bars
My friend got his 2nd gen hardware from LSD motorsports. Even you didnt buy it from them, they could probably give you some info about how to get the stuff.
Good luck and I hope for you nothing breaks. |
