You need to find out some things about your engine, and then you can make the assesment for yourself.

Things to find out:
Does it have forged pistons?
Does it have a forged crank?
How well does the block support the cylinders?
How well does the block support the crank?
How many main bearings does it have?

Maybe there are others that have some actual experience with this engine here that can speak up.

The DSM's, Hondas, and Toyotas all have their strengths and weakness's, and is common knowledge, but an Alfa engine would be new to many of us I am sure.

the 1600 alfa 75 was the absolute base model bottom of the range job..

there is no point turboing it, get a 75 3.0V6 for under £1000 and turbo that instead
