You planning on running this on the street?I always like the air to water for the simple charge piping.Generally SS intercoolers are pretty good and i imagine that would work well providing it doesnt leak or something :D

There isn't too much to mess up. Hell even if it leaks then you have an aquamist setup already. Two birds shot with just one bullet my friend. 8)

don't these things require a pump, a heat exchanger and a seperate water/coolant reservoir to properly use air to water intercooler?

if you want it as a dd i guess.... otherwise have a nos shot at it... or if its just a track car... filll it with ice and water.. and keep plenty of ice on hand to fill it with...

Buk, stop commenting on things just to make it "seem" like you have a clue.

It needs a seperate pump/res/heat exchanger. Otherwise it's not going to do a damn thing.

I like the small size of them but in return you have alot of bagage to go along with them. A pump..res..heat exchanger.. Then add that ontop of the price of the IC and it's not looking so great.

believe James from JG Fab (BmCRace.com) was running one on his S2000.... search his old posts in the fab section...

I think its more work then what its worth on a street car. On a race car id rock it.

I had a look on ebay to see what you could do with it. You could use a motorbike radiator and a small 12v electric pump, that would give you pretty decent cooling. Plumbing is just rubber hose and a few jubilee clips. More money then an intercooler, but more effective and more stealthy.

It wasn't DD part, it was the nos shot and filling the linked core with ice/water that threw me :S

If you want to throw it on a DD, you need a large volume of water.

Re: air to water from ebay?

i was planning on using a pump and a heat exchanger, i wa going to mount it where the intercooler is now and put a cell up where my battery used to be. id put the exchanger after the intercooler so as its goes from the ibntercooler back to the cell, it will go thru the exchanger and help cool it down. i was gonna mix in this stuff we use at work. Its normally used for your radiator, but it has the ability to keep your cooling system cooler. Its almost like water wetter but its in this gallon metal can, ill get the name of it tonight. I mostly wanted the water to air to have a shorter distance from my turbo to the throttle body and i think it would be fun to put together

Re: air to water from ebay?

Just find a radiator with an integral reservoir. Even a 600 will have an oversized radiator for this application. Some of them even come with small fans.

The only worry is, if anything fails, your putting uncooled air into the engine (eg a coolant leak or coolant pump failure). Whereas an intercooler you leak boost at worst.

im mostly worried about a core that wasnt welded properly and water pumping inot my engine. id like to tthink i could trust an ebay one, but i fear the chinese man welds

Re: air to water from ebay?

it wouldnt be hard to test for leaks, now if there was one it could be a bitch to fix.

i dont see why running it daily wouldnt work, with a large enough cooler and resovior it will work just fine
