Acura title!!
i need some advice guys.... i just picked up a 92 integra.. b18 5 speed for a terrific price ($200)... It runs, needs an alternator, hood, and coil spings, and wiper arms. It sat for a while and is begging to rust, but not badly. The interior is fine, no real body damage. The problem is i got it w/o a title from a friend of a friend. He had the title, but is gonna re-vin another integra that was never titled... QUESTION is, what do i do Its my first integra, and i would like to keep it. OR shoudl i pull the motor, then what do i do with the body? No junkyard is gonna take it without a title! I was planning on getting a b-series motor to ---- around with, but i'd hate to kill of the entire car. I have as of right now 3 crx's (one a parts car) and two civics at my house, and i have a one car garage, its a little crowded and i'm still working on 2 projects (my turbo rex needs a new turbo and my new custom coach intercooler installed... thanks guys... and much more!, and i have a 91hatch shell in need of a motor swap!)... Should i try to find someone with another integra and get their title and vin (how can i change it.... enire dash swap?) or for now use the title for my parts crx (alll its says is the year, 2-door, and Honda on the title no model) or what?? I have been trying to figure out what to do, and need some advice from my HMT brothers!

Re: Acura title!!
Go to DMV, have them run an NCIC check on the VIN. That way you will know whether or not it has ever been reported stolen. If not, your state should have a procedure to follow for getting a title in your name even if you don't have the actual title. It's a pain in the ***, but it's possible.

Re: Acura title!!
make a bill of sale with the vin, mileage, and license plate and have your friend sign it.
can you get a bill of sale from the last registered owner? or did he turn in a release of liability that included your friends info?
talk to the dmv. they will guide you on what is needed.
stay away from swapping vins. slightly illegal, plus you will be stuck with a shell with missing vins that you have to get rid of.

Re: Acura title!!
i would love to do that, but the guy i got the car from is doing the vin swap and is gonna use the vin off that car on another car. So i'm stuck with not being able to use that vin what so ever@!! i know, i'd hate to have to watch my back everyday if i swap my vin!! if i do it, i wanna do it right. I'm thinking of trying to find an entire dash at a junkyard or from someone that is parting out an integra, and swaping it into the car, along with getting the corresponding title... that is if i proceed with making this car registered.... thanks for the input so far!

Re: Acura title!!
Don't try to register it, pull the engine, part the car, dump the shell in the country. The person that the car was registered to last will take the fall. When they bitch at you, tell them to ---- off. Swapping VIN's is illegal.
