ACT Clutch any good

I was wondering what you guys think an ACT Street clutch and heavy duty pressure plate will hold about 8 psi out of a small t25 or will it suck. The reason why I ask is because I'm getting a whole complete kit for 170. Thanx

The pressure plate is good, however street disks typically dont hold to well under boost. However for $170 its a good deal.
Its up to you, if your building a race car, go with something more agressive.

I had a ACT xterm PP with a 6 puck sprung disk, loved it. Never tried the HD PP tho.

I have an ACT 6 puck unsprung clutch w/ a HD pressure plate from Mike. Clutch Specialties didn't make a pressure plate for my car, otherwise I would have gone with that. The ACT holds up just fine though, no complaints.

i had an ACT street/strip in my red escort pushing 15psi. held 226wtrq just fine day in and day out! the only time i was nice to it was when it was parked. not once did i have an issue with it.

I have a street clutch in my car and it sucks. Doesnt hold any better then the stock did. A friend of mine has a six puck in his teg though and he loves it. My .02 cents.

I have an ACT Heavy Duty Pressure plate, street disc, and street-lite flywheel.

I'm boosting my b16 hoping to make at least 250 whp. You think i'll be having problems?
I thought the street disc was rated to like 225 torque or something.

I try and convince people of this as ive been on the losing side more then the winning side when it comes to street disks holding power. The ratings for clutch kits are generally what the pressure plate is rated for. In general if u have enough pressure, it will keep the disk from slipping, however over time and at high rpm under boost, the organic material just doesnt cut it like a metallic disk. Not a high enough coefficient of friction.
However the Yellow is sex and definately on the jdm side.

im not sure on the offical holding power but i hit 226wtrq figure that with the 15% drivetrain loss commonly found with frontwheel drive. i was seeing 260-265flywheel torque. so if that helps your welcome. :D

ive seen tons of people using the street disc it worked great, friends coupe holds with it on 9psi sc61, b16a2 drove with it for a year or so til the tranny exploded.

If LSD could find me a clutch. I'm sure he can get you one. My quote was around $250 or so and it was a six puck. he also has a flywheel for my car for $180. When I had my Mustang I had an ACT shatter on me after the 500 mile breakin (515 miles or so) I don't trust them at all.

intresting? mine was in for 15 months of daily driving stop and go freeway you name it. probly put 20K on it easy. guess you win some and lose some. i jsut ordered a 6puck with an xtreme plate for my project car.

oh i also find that break in periods on things like that are pointless. so if it scattered at 515. you could have solved the issue 514 miles before hand by droppign the hammer a good'n.

Wow, lots of different opinions in here. We'll I'm looking for a clutch/flywheel combo soon and I think I'll give LSD clutches a shot, mike seems like a good guy and his products are a good price. If it breaks, I get what I paid for.

I do sell the ACT Clutch kits, but everyone on HMT runs our Clutch specialties kits which get the job done just as well and keeps some cash in your pocket to take the girlfriend out

Oopsy, didn't mean ACT, all these acronyms are screwing with me. I mean LSD clutch specialties.
