Ack... shit got jacked
 

Well not my stuff.. a customer crx I was working on got his stereo and whatever else was in the car got stolen out of it.

I walk up to it this afternoon... I'm on the phone with josh ross, just Bs'n and I'm sitting there starring at it going, man something looks funny.

Ahh yes, there it is on the ground.. :-\ I thought someone might of smacked it or something, but never would have though someone broke into it like that. ---- I guess they pulled the window back and opened it that way.

This car had one of those Cd players that have the flaceplates that flip around and go back into the deck, so it makes it look like nothing is there. I dont even know if it worked because it was always in the off postion.

I have no idea what exactly was even in the back area. Assuming there was a amp and sub box. All gone, not sure if it was good or cheap ----.

I guess I just feel really bad for this guy, he had someone put this b16a in, it didnt run. it had 12 different CEL's, wiring all hacked, exhaust was off alternator hitting the frame, dead distributor, no intake, motor mounts all loose, axles about to fall out, etc etc. He pretty much got ripped off. So me being the nice guy, I went through and fixed just about everything, car runs good now. 15 mins before I went outside I called him pretty much saying his car was done. Now this happens, jesus christ.

Now I'm not exactly sure how were going to handle this, I called the cops, filled the police report out etc etc. Nothing they can really do. I just dont want this kids dad coming after me or something. I dont think I should be responseable for whats in the car and if its missing.

I do know one thing, that car was going nowhere... I take the ecu's out of everything I drive, and disable them in other ways.

What do I do now.... ??? "Hi, you owe me 375 bucks for parts and labor, and your stereo ---- is gone. Have a nice day"

That really sucks dude. I dont know what to tell you.. I guess just explain what happened and hope he doesnt freak :-\

That really blows though.. damn thieves. They did it pretty sneakily too.. if they had not thrown the reflector on the ground you probably wouldn't have thought anything of it.

J/K, this kinda reminded me of that incident with Beau and his stereo. :-X

Most likely his steroe wasn't on the insurance policy, like most people, so it won't be covered. :-\

Maybe the ---- didn't even work so the guy won't even care that much. :-\

still sucks tho, insurance companies are worse then the damn thieves. I had over 2g's of ---- stolen outta my car, it was covered, but i had no reciepts, and they were like, sorry, yer fuct. So now i save EVERYTHING!

Systems are gay anyway. The important thing is that his car is running good. You would only be held liable if you left the car unlocked or something.

He just called me, didnt seem to upset. He said he had insurance and his dad is on his way over to check it out. :-\

Just focus more on how the car is running and all the ---- that was done to it more than the ---- getting stolen. Than they'll feel good that the car is running great now and not really focus on the stereo ---- getting stolen

My main concern is my reputation. I do lots of swaps for people in this area. I just dont want this kid going around saying "man that jeff frank guy ------- raped me" I was thinking I'd knock a little bit off the price, but ---- man.. I'm hurting for money :-\

Yeah, your reputation is mechanic not police officer :-\ Your not raping the guy if you give a fair price for labor and do what you were paid to do, fix his ------- car. Yeah it sucks but what are you supposed to do, sleep in the cars to make sure they're protected?

I have state farm and my system got jacked twice and they covered it. Theey said it had to be a permanent part of the car ie bolted down

Talked to Dad.. $500 deductable, he doesnt seem to upset either. Guess the stereo wasnt worth alot, and there was no amp even in the back. Just a set of cheap subs.

Is this at your shop, or at a place that you work? And... do you have garage insurance? worst case scenario, they could hold you liable, since the vehicle was in your posession when the ---- was jacked. with garage insurance any vehicle in your posession is covered... :-\ However it seems like this guy is reasonable and willing to have his own insurance cover it.

If I had a car like that, I would thank my goddamn lucky stars that was the only thing stolen! I'm not much one for fancy stereos and ----...they can steal my cd player I got for free, I won't care....but if they would have touched anything under the hood I would be seriously pissed.

In my opinion he should be happy you took the ECU out of it and they couldn't steal his nice car...

he didn`t mention who that is tho...
once i saw it i was thinking there wasn`t anything the mechanic could do about it..

anyway....how ------- dumb is that. someone broke into ur car and u have call ur dad AND have him look at it. ::)

i saw it last night.
this guy was saying his car got broken into while it is being work on, by some nissan dealer guy. and he said he couldn`t really claim on anything coz it`s backdoored.:P

That sucks...if it was a cheap radio and sub's i wouldn't worry about it, if at least you fixed everything and it's running 100%. I'm not much of a stereo guy etc.....I just don't want my car to be stolen or something in my engine bay .... it needs to run and I'm happy ;D

OH ----!! someone else. My APEXI VAFC got jacked last Monday. Luckily my insurance covers glass. They are going to replace the passenger side door glass. Now, I agree with Paul99EX 200% >:( >:(.

That sucks, I know what its like to have someone get into your car, the car just feels strange afterwards knowing someone else was in there.
The way I see it is hes lucky thats all they took. No glass was smashed, they didn't cut up his console, he still has a battery and an intake oh, his car is still there too! I really hope everything works out between you and the customer.

just don't leave cars parked outside when you're not there anymore from now on. also, just tell the kid what happened
and see how he reacts to it. it could be that the kid himself stole his own radio system, that wouldn't surprise me one bit. get your labor money and show him the police report. other peoples' problems aren't your fault and you shouldn't take pitty on them. unless you want to join somekinda positive harrychrishna cult or something. just insist on getting your money and don't give him the keys til you get it. check with the law to be sure you have the right to do that. good luck.
