Absinthe?
 

Just heard of this stuff for the first time a few days ago... is it any good and what does it do to you? Clerk said it had some sort of worm wood in it which is supposedly an hallucinogen... Anyone had this stuff before?

i hear stuff from people all the time, never really looked into it to see if the rumors are true. supposedly its legal in a few places in europe, but illegal in the usa. i think there is a non hallucinogen version you can buy in some of the states, but its not the real deal. and aren't i remembering it from euro trip or something? anyway, you could wiki it and post what you find here for everyone to know

Absinthe is a distilled, highly alcoholic (45%-75% ABV), anise-flavored spirit derived from herbs, including the flowers and leaves of the Artemisia absinthium plant, also called “wormwood.” Absinthe is typically of a natural green color but is also produced in both clear and artificially colored forms. Although it is sometimes mistakenly called a liqueur, absinthe is not bottled with added sugar and is therefore classified as a spirit.[1] Absinthe is uncommon among spirits in that it is bottled at a high proof but is historically diluted with water when it is drunk.

i've had it like 3-4 times... everytime a friend travels to europe they try to bring some back. I like it a lot, i've never had a strong hallucination from it but i know a few people who have geeked out pretty hard. I just like the drunk it gives me, def slightly different than other alcohol.

In euro they have high Thujune contents which is the derivative from worm wood which makes you trip. IIRC the legal ---- here doesnt have thunjune in it enought to make you trip. But its only illegal to Purchase here, not to have. so you order it from Chez rebublic and its OK. If you really want to boogie though you gotta get the ---- that has like 100mg's of thujune in it which is the most expensive of course. like 100-200 a liter or some ---- but its was fun. drank like 3-4 drinks and felt like i drank over a 12 pack in a few hours. You feel like fall down drunk but in total control the whole time, no studdering, sloppyness or inattentavness. I enjoyed it but did not see the point in speding so much for it. ---- 100 a bottle liquor, I'll just face a blunt and drink some heinie's

Around here its $70 for a bottle about half the size of a 2 liter bottle. Not sure how much is in it but that price is damn high :S

it probably will but it wont be the same ---- they sell across the pond. if i remember it has THC or some ----, not sure if its the worm wood or other stuff in it, but yeah supposedly makes some hallucenate.

This is correct, I own a bottle of the new stuff thats legal in the US, and it is not the same, its a different type of worm wood (like 'white' wormwood or some crap like that) which isn't as strong as the real stuff.

absinthe is good ---- trust me.

If you make it right it doesnt taste too bad... ignite sugar and absinthe in spoon, pour a bit of water over sugar into shot of Absinthe, stir, enjoy.... allways fucks me up. very good with shrooms as well. ;D

dude I said all that in my post. Its thujune that gets you trippin and yes it comes from wormwood but no the US ---- does not have it in there like the European couterparts. it is not recently legal that was just hype they spit out to encourage sales. the ---- they are selling I dont think was ever illegal, they just said its now "legal" so everyone would think its the same ----.

I didn't read everything that everyone says.

Wormwood is what they add and thujone is the active ingredient.

From what I've read on sites like erowid.org, it doesn't really do much of ---- and some believe thujone is toxic.

If you want to trip, get some cacti, shrooms, or one of the many other active-containing freely-available plants.

absinthe has illegal drugs in it.
being in the army I am pohibited to drink it, I've seen people lose rank and get discharged from it. drink it and fail urinalasis (piss test).

You can order bottles online. Ive ordered one before and it took a while to ship it, so i emailed them and asked for ym oney back (150 US$) and they refunded me, two days later i got an emial saying my order was shipped. Got my absinthe for free.

I cant remember what it was called but it the most potent. Tasted liek ----, burnt like hell and didnt do a damn thing except get me drunk. So i tried to force the halucination by dropping to the floor and saying " why is the flloor as low as i can go?"

i think the bottle i got was 150 proof. Even trying it with melted sugar cubes didnt do a damn thing.

I worked with a guy that bought some. Said he tried some and it didn't do crap. So he sold shots for $5 each at a party they threw. He said there were people acting like they were seeing all sorts of crap. Just shows you can trick yourself into anything. Ever seen the test the do giving people non alcoholic "alcohol" and people will actually be acting drunk as hell?

Must be nice to make yourself think you are fucked up. I usually get pissed because I can't. :7

I have had both. The american stuff gives you what is equal to a buzz and a high, which is nice. And it takes far less than most alcohol for some reason.

my friend is jewish and makes yearly trips to israel. he has a bottle of the good stuff and any of you saying you have taken absinthe that havent had the real ---- are idiots. They are night and day different. The stuff from israel fucked me up BAD. i mean i had little pink elephants following me around and ----.

if you can get your hands on some real stuff, smoke a blunt and drink a few glasses. If you can only get U.S. stuff, ---- it. its not worth it

Ha. Yeah I have heard mixed results from Absinthe as far as halucinations go. Everyone says they feel a buzz like alcohol, which is expected but the halucinations are hit or miss. Makes me think that there may be some plecibo effect or people just "forcing the trip" as mitch would put it.

Yeah i never felt anythign really trippy other than a hard buzz. felt more than a drunk though you could tell there was something going on in yoru head but overall felt more drunk than anything.

I wouldn't pay for it but if one of your friends is stupid enough to, help him drink that ----.

i tired some absinthe this passed weekend. i was down in rosarito for spring break. i got nothing from it, not the greatest tasting ---- either :3

i saw nothing, i kept waiting to see lil green men or a pink elephant or something, but none ever came. i did however pass out friday night and was drunk til saturday afternoon :X at which point i continued to drink

shits gay. costs way to much. if you have it shipped here from over seas theres always a chance customs will seize it. Plus if I gave you a 40oz of mickeys and told you i spiked it with pcp youd would act the same way after I made you drink the whole thing.

I had it before cost over 100 bucks to get it here and nothing special happened. Although every person that was with me when we drank it said some magical ---- happened when they drank some of it.
