A 1988 Mazda 323 AWD Turbo. Anyone have any experience with these? The turbo needs new seals, boosts fine but when you boost it hard then let off it smokes. Struts are shot also. $1200. Good body shape and interior. Worth it?

 

$1200 is not bad, just don't do to many hard lunches because those trans don't like it.

 

Oh yeah, it won't stay in 5th gear also, so I have to tear apart the tranny anyhow.

Yeah man, that's a great car, get that...Isn't a very common car either...I've seen lots of base model 323's but NEVER a GTX turbo...SCC did an article on one that a guy rally raced a few years ago, badass ride...

 

And if the body or tranny goes to hell on you, drop that 1.6 into a festiva.

But dont bother rebuiding that little IHI thats on there, put something bigger on there.

werth that easy, those things are hard to find without major rust. Very pimp winter beaters but dont buy it if you think it will ever be a fast/drag car.
