95 gsr...what would you pay

long story short there is a gsr not too far from me, and im debating if its worth the hour drive to check it out. Its a red 95 with 180k on it and it looks to be in decent shape from the pics. The miles dont scare me so much. Anyway they want 3700 (its a dealer) which is more or less what the value seems to be when i checked it on edmunds.com. opinions?

Re: 95 gsr...what would you pay

Offer them $3200, I'd get it for sure if I was in the market.

Re: 95 gsr...what would you pay

they posted up the ad with 4700 and then 3700 and said they just dropped the price so i have a feeling they will be kinda firm/assholish on the price

Ya but you can always try. No harm in trying. If you say 3200 they might come back and say they can't let it go for less than 3400. Bam! you saved 100 bucks.

Good deal :P

If I were still looking for a teg I'd get it.

you're the one spending the money, you have the power. tell them what you are looking to pay, and if they don't want to hear it, leave. ---- them, you don't have to give them your money.

I work at a car dealership, with mileage I'm guessing they got this car as a trade-in. Anyone on here will tell you they give jack ---- for trade-in's. Trade-in on that car depending on the condition is about $1500-2000 if they were nice. Just ask if it was a trade-in and lowball the ---- out of them.

just because they got it cheap doesnt mean they will come anywhere near what they paid for it when selling it...

This is true. I cant count the number of time we've sold $100 trades fo decent money, but usually anything over a couple years old is going to be a wholsale peice.

sounds fine to me. if in fact it's pretty clean/no problems, anything 3500 or below i think seems solid. yeah you can play the waiting game and just leave if they turn down a lowball....but they don't give a ----, cause a car like that probably won't stay on the lot very long.

plus it'll be hittin all kindsa m4d vt3k NOISES!!!

ouch that's rough. sucks you had to drive an hour to look at it.

dealerships can litterly steal your car from you...depending on how you look at it.
say a car is marked up $6000. Price on the car is $26,000, the dealer bought it for $20,000.
someone walks in with a car for trade. Offers the dealer, $24,000 plus there car (trade in)
Sold, deal goes through. Dealer cleans the piss out of the trade, puts a few hundred bucks in it in the shop...puts that "$2000" car back on the lot for $6000...so in the end, that car ended up making more than the loss.

See how thats "stealing the car". I worked at a car dealer as a salesman before the military...back in 2000-2001. ;)
Kinda miss it honestly. :-\

BTW, i'd lowball the ---- out of them. If you have cash, take it with you. I personally would take around $2900 in cash with you. In my experiences years ago, if we would mark the ---- down out of a car, they want the bitch gone off the lot. Its not worth there time. My guess, anything you give them is pure profit.

tell them you have 3500 bucks total and you want it for that much OUT THE DOOR. if they say no they tell them to rubb it on his chest.

Wish I would have lowballed the 95 teg I got for $500. I doubt they paid anything for it, it was dropped off at their shop and the lady didn't want to pay for the repairs. I know my dad would get cars for ridiculously cheap when they were dropped off at his shop and people decided not to pay for repairs. Didn't think there was too much room for more lowballin at $500 though.

They're right though, if you walk in with cash, they'll probably sell right there.
