92-95 Civic Radiator in CRX

Hello

Maybe you 92-95 Civic owners can help me on this one.

What are the dimensions of the 92-95 Civic radiator? Will this fit into a CRX? If so is it a royal pain in the ass to adapt? Would it be of any value or benefit using this radiator to free up space for a turbo setup.

Thanks
Jon Black

well its like half of what a CRX radiater has... the dimensions are like 15in wide x 17.5in high x 2in wide. Im pretty sure it would fit a CRX.. just measure everything uP.. The thing that is gonna suck is mounting it on the car securely... and geting the hoses for it... because im not sure if they will line up right... so just measure where they go and go to your local autoparts store and ask to see their hoses or for them to find you one that will fit... but you might find yourself running a little hotter than usual... because my car (94 civic) runs a bit bellow halfway) and my bros CRX runs colder than ---- all the time... (except in traffic)but thats about it... but you will definatly have more room for the turbo... intercooler piping and all that good stuff....

i remeber reading somthing about a neon radiator going right in, mounting points and all.

it is also small like the 92 civic rad

The 92-95 civic radiator will most certainly NOT bolt in... not even changing the top mounting brackets will make it work. I have this radiator in my car, and it took a lot of time/fabrication to get it to work right. As for hoses, a long as you have the radiator mounted in there, the standard hoses should pretty much line up.

Is it worth it to have a half radiator? Yep... i know for certain that my turbo setup would not fit at all without a half radiator. However, i'm having a custom radiator being made at the moment so that i can get rid of the current setup, because the bottom of it sits too low for my tastes...

John, we are also figure we are going to need a new radiator setup for my Ls/Vtec crx, Beau is working on the manifold, and clearence issues are going to be tight, I am pretty sure I am just going to hack the stock member up, since its already "Modified" to get it to fit. Is your radiator sitting at an angle? or straight up and down?

Hey Jeff, here is a pic for ya...

Figure that the radiator cap is "level" with the radiator... so if the rad was literally straight up and down, the top of the cap would be perfectly flat with the ground... or so... LoL. If you can pull angles from your sscreen, the camera was perfectly flat when taking this shot, and the mag-tray is sitting on the rad cap, so it's straight with it:

I didn't touch (cut) the front crossmember to make this fit by the way (other than welding to it for a bracket).

Man, about a year ago beau bought one for his car, and we did a bunch of test fits, and everything was looking ugly. I thought the only way to get it to fit in their nice was hacking the x-member up a little bit, so you can let it sit down just a bit more.. I don't remember.. lol, maybe I will do that neon radiator swap, who knows?

Well, if you can visualize what you have to cut, place the radiator juuuust in front of the front crossmember... the lower rad hose on my setup just barely grazes the crossmember. Of course everything in front of the front crossmember had to be cut. I kept the right half of all that stuff up there, but the left half where the radiator is sitting is pretty much completely gone. (one of these days i'll take the bumper off and shoot ssome pics of the carnage.. LoL.

I'd go for the Neon rad by the way if i did it over again AND had more time... which both will be coming true shortly ;)

my roommate crashed his del sol, and his new radiator had a tranny cooler in it (for the Auto?) this could be used for an oil cooler too, if you can find one.
