i'm not planning on putting a turbo on the chevy motor, but the rotary i get would be the turbo 13b.
the chevy motor would probably get some nitrous, just for the track.

aaron, i like the old sbc's cause they are cheap as hell. i've thought about getting an lt1 or ls1, but really don't want to spend that much money on a motor, but i just found an lt1 with 60k on it for $400 on craigslist. so i'm gonna check that out.
also i would like to have a carb cause i know how to work them, i'm not good at tuning fuel injected ----. however if i go with the lt1 or ls1 i could probably get it smog legal in cali. that would be bad ***.
also i was thinking about going with an auto tranny not the t56, however again the ls1+t56 is tried and true. lots of people have it.
just think, 75mph and 2000rpm's

or 75 and just under 5k rpms with the auto tranny.
the money i save buying the tranny will be spent on gas, but you can find those trannys on craigslist for $100-$200 all the time. the t56 manual tranny is not that cheap. but i'd save on gas

well i decided on some old american muscle, well maybe not muscle but it's a workhorse for sure

i got my motor today.
total trip 4 hours
30 min drive up
2 hours to pull the motor, shooting the ---- with the seller
1 hour to clean up mess while shooting the ---- with the seller
30 min drive home.

i found an ad on craigslist
"CHEVY CHEYENNE---> 1974 PARTING 0UT! (ESC0NDID0)"
inside that ad he said he had a 350 motor
the next ad below was
"350 M0T0R F0R SALE!! - $250 (ESC0NDID0)"
inside that ad he said the motor had about 75k og miles on it and it runs great. still in truck, come listen to it.

so i said to my self $250 for a running motor sure beats the 100-200 i've been seeing for non running motors. so i did what any normal man would do. i had my wife call him up and see WTF was up.
this was on monday. my wife said everything was cool and i should call him. so on my lunch break i called him and told him i wouldn't be able to get it till friday. after talking to him for a few mins he said he would hold the motor till friday.
i thought forsure he was gonna sell this motor before friday.
then i found out that I HAD TO PULL THE MOTOR. well what ever, if i do it then i know it was done right.
so today we got the motor and he even gave me a th400 tranny that needs a rebuild.
really cool kid, he was about 18 and his wife is pregnant with twins so he has to sell all of his non running cars and make one running car.
so anyway the motor sounded real strong, but i'm gonna do a leak down test this weekend to see how strong it really is.
if it checks out bad then i'm gonna do a full rebuild on it
383 stroker and all kinds of go fast goodies.
if it checks out good then i'm gonna throw a 100 shot of nos on it till it blows. then rebuild it.
so here are a few pics of it's dirty self. i gotta clean it up real good

You don't know how much I envy you.

You live where I used to live, and where I want to live again.

You have an FC like I used to have, and want to have again.

You can turbo that bitch.

---- you.

not a bad deal man. im not a fan of the v8 into a RX7 but more and more ...if you want a HP beast, in a solid chassis with good brakes, etc this is the way to go.
$1000 and that thing will be a monster.

i envy myself, i've talked to grant over at grannys a couple times. i will be getting his mount kit, but i'm not sure if i want to get his drive shaft and all that other stuff or if i'm just gonna get the engine cradle.

wiring is gonna be easier for me cause i'm ditching the stock gauge cluster and all that stuff.
i'm gonna get a summit wire harness (painless knockoff).
my wife had a 70 chevy pickup that we rewired from headlight to the tail lights, that sucked *****, but now i've done it so i'll be able to do it again.

the cool thing with going this route is i don't need to have the tach re calibrated or the speedo fixed. i don't need any adapters for the oil pressure sensor.
and i'm gonna have a cool custom gauge setup. just gotta figure out what gauges i want to use (style, color)

oh the motor looks dirtier in the pics then it does in person

today i gotta pull the tranny off and throw it on craigslist. the shitty thing is i don't know if it needs a rebuild or if it is good. oh well i'll sell it super cheap to make a little of my money back.
i gotta throw my rx7 tranny and other parts i'm not using on craigslist too.

i'm gonna paint the complete engine black, i'm not sure if i'm gonna put on chrome valvecovers and air cleaner or if i'm gonna paint them black too.
the cars name is "the black widow" cause the rotary guys call us soul killers and there are a few spiders living in my car. i'm gonna paint the sunroof red and have everything else black on the car.
here is a pic of the lic plate i'm gonna get

if any of you nigs steal my plate idea i'm gonna hunt you down.

Because I bet he hasn't addressed that at all.

If he's going to be drag racing he's going to have to stop, especially if he wants to at a track.
