88-91 civic starting problems, common?
My mom has an 88-91 4 door that has stopped running. She drove it to work then went to leave and it wouldn't start. It cranks over but doesn't fire. Now I normally wouldn't ask such a vague question but she had the same problem with her 88 civic she had before. The car would do the same thing. It always started in the morning when she left for work after it was sitting in the garage all night. The honda dealership finally found some service bulletin on a part that needed replaced but there were two possible parts and they had to order both. Now thats all the info I've been given on the situation but I thought maybe somebody's experienced the same problem. Anyone?

i'd say the dizzy or the fuel pump, although the fuel pump isnt common as the 90-93 integra but still a possibility. although with all 12 or so ef's that i have had the dizzy has always had to be replaced on every single one pull the spark plug wire and hold it a bit away from the ground it to see if there is spark. if theres no spark 95% of the time its the dizzy.

When she had problems with he other car it would start after a while. She would end up taking it to the dealership and they would find something wrong with it and replace it and then it would do it again. Any other idea. I'll check spart tomorrow when I get out there as well as fuel.

find out why its not starting.. Does it have spark when shes trying to crank it? From what I've seen, ignitors are very common to go out on 4g and 5g Hondas.
Fuel pumps are not very common to go out on hondas, but the main relays are that turn the fuel pump on.
