86 toyota corrolla twin leafblower

I was at the hardware store standing in line and this guy had two toro leafblowers. I was reading the side and it said "140 mph nozzal speed." I look at the nozzal and it was at least 2 1/2 inches acrossed. That gave me an Idea. This guy traded this corrolla for $100 where I work. I am thinking I should buy it and put this "twin blower" project together. Oh yeah the price was like $50 for the blowers. I think I will make the charge pipes out of PVC. Its cheap. If it doesn't work I sell the ---- on ebay. Some sap will buy it. Should I do it or not?

Re:86 toyota corrolla twin leafblower

You would have to rig something up to controll the throttle of both the LEAF BLOWERS in conjunction with the cars throttle.....$100 for the two blowers and lots of #$gger rigging ...just buy a used turbo!

I would lough at you if I pulled up next to you at a stop light and I heard 2 blower motors at full throttle...HAHAHAHAHA

Re:86 toyota corrolla twin leafblower

that's why he suggested the belt driven, but you would have to have a tiny little drive belt on the motor and a huge one on the blower, or the other way around.

Re:86 toyota corrolla twin leafblower

No the blowers are $50 for the both of them. I wouldn't have the blowers on all the time I would have to make a switch so they come on at cirtain rpm. I couldn't quit laughing at the posts you guys wrote. Thats some funny ----. I think I will do for the hell of it. I don't think anybody on here has done this. I'll keep you posted.

are the leaf blowers gas or electric? try it, i think it would be cool if it worked, and you could sell it for hundreds on egay.

Re:86 toyota corrolla twin leafblower

We tried to use a leaf blower on a bench test rig to check pressure drop on intercoolers. We used a good quality unit that puts out lots of high speed air but it would barely move the needle on the boost guage. They are just not strong enough to replace a turbo. Maybe with two going at the same time you could get a couple pounds of boost but I doubt it.
Is this an electric or gas blower? If it electric you are going to need a long extension cord. If its gas what are you going to do, run the pull cord into the car and pull start it at stop lights before a race? Sounds like a pain in the ass to me for no good reason.

thats what I was going to do but I went and drove it and the fucker is a great car. It gets a second gear scratch. Whats up with that. But then I figured why not put this leafblower thing on it and if it doesn't work then I can go get drunk, drive it off a cliff and then piss on it. Might even take a camara with me. I was also thinking about a third blower. mabey :-\

Re:86 toyota corrolla twin leafblower

What motor is in that poor bastard? I might need parts after you run too much boost through those leaf blowers. You should consider doing the ultimate staged setup- use the corolla motor to turbo the blowers and the blowers to pressurize the corolla.

crxrx7 10-17-2003 01:48 AM

Re:86 toyota corrolla twin leafblower

Do you understand that they are made out of plastic. They would melt. I haven't yet checked to see what the motor is but it runs good. The car is a little two door hatch. The back window looks like the 86 honda civic hatch back window. I think the only cool thing about htis car is that on the hood it is raised on one side. like a reverse hoodscoop without the scoop. :o

Re:86 toyota corrolla twin leafblower

It's a goddamned FX! Ok, ok, I need parts off your car- I need the WHOLE wiring harness, seats, carpet, passenger side kick panel, maybe the front bumper, don't kill that fucker. It was probably made in '86 but the model year will probably be '87 cuz they were only made for two years. That's why I'm kinda excited. I am having a helluva time finding ----. Picture this- getting into your car and doing a burnout past 1/8th mile mark. Then you have the same car as me. What does it say on the valve cover? Are there two cam covers? Jesus, man! You have the car I need for parts!

If it does, I need it. I'll buy it. Especially if it has those dope-ass sideskirts like in the picture from FX-16 and GTS.

dude, heres the deal I will sell you the whole car for $200. Where do you live.

Re:86 toyota corrolla twin leafblower

It is an FX? Tell me more- auto or stick? Either way, I live in Belllingham, WA. $200 sounds good to me. That would be very cool.

crxrx7 10-18-2003 04:34 PM

Re:86 toyota corrolla twin leafblower

stick. It has a rip on the drivers side door panel and a rip in the drivers seat. that is the only thing wrong with the interior.

Re:86 toyota corrolla twin leafblower

The Corrola FX is a rare car. They came with the 4AGE 1.6 twin cam motor, that thing will rev forever. I had one in a 90 corrola GT-S, I swear it had a 10,000 RPM rev limit on it. It was like a dremel tool, it reved so fast and smooth, I wanted to turbo it but I never got the time.

LINCOLN nebraska. divers fender is way beyond repair. the front is wrecked but nothING broke. and has rust on the rear fender wells.

did you figure out about the engine yet? I don't wanna go to Nebraska for a 4A-LC.

yeah its that motor. the 4a. sorry

Well, if it ends up becoming dead, an unmolested wiring harness would be worth $100 to me if it was basically perfect or god damn close.

this car runs good and the guy that had it just drove it and hasn't been moded at all. But I have to buy the car for a hundred dollars from my boss and that wouldn't be worth my time

Re:86 toyota corrolla twin leafblower

grnated a leaf blower will push upwards of 1000cfm with little to no troubles. what you need to do is stage those bastards one into the other to increase the pressue ratio !! and i think it would be pretty bad ass to hop out and start to leaf blowers. that sure would ---- with people.

crxrx7 10-20-2003 11:57 PM

Re:86 toyota corrolla twin leafblower

thats a great Idea. I wouldn't have to hop out and start them up. they're electric. All I have to do is go to
wal-mart and buy a power inverter and just plug them in.
