Default 85 accord lx 1800

Hello i have a problem with my car it started with this weird grinding sound that would come from the engine on the drivers side only in the mornings when it was really cold. When the sound stopped happening the car started to sputter out when you would come to a stop it wouldn't idle at 1,000 like it should. I drove it like that for about a month and then it would die when it came to a stop and when you held the gas peddle down it would either die at about 400 rpms or it would rev way up to 2,000 rpms there was no in between. The last time i drove it when i tried to start the car it would just turn over but it wouldn't start. I need to know the possible problems. The car is carborated but the carborator is clean. The car also seemed to missfire in the low rpms especially if i could get it to idle it would misfire a lot. I was thinkin it could be the timing but it runs just fine when i go over 50 mph. It doesn't overheat or anything like that it just doesn't idle.

Your problem is easily solved. It's your fan clutch. You must manually tighten it, and here's the DIY: (It's a 2 man job, by the way)

Have one person sit in the drivers seat and wait.

Pop the hood, place one hand on a fan blade, and the other hand on the opposite side fan blade. Then, have the other person start the car and rev the engine. It's VERY important to hang on to the fan blades once they engage. Trust me, it will do the trick. And you'll probably never have to post here again!!

(or be able to use a computer)

how the ---- is it the fan clutch??

OP: check the t-belt, my GF's ma had the exact same car and the belt skipped a few teeth. the EW engines arent interference so it caused no damage. it showed the exact same symptoms. if that isnt it check ign timing.

P.S. 3bbl 12v FTW!!
