My first car was an '86, it was sweet. The digital dash lights burned out though which were expensive to replace.

----, my 1st was an 87 with digital dash and the backlight went out more than once. funny thing was the digital speedo topped out at 85 mph, but when i switched over to kph it kept going up ...lol

Re: 80's T-Birds

Im not buying it to race it. i just want something somewhat reliable with cheaper parts and auto trans. Plus cheaper insurance rates own, i dont see myself getting tickets in that thing. My EF is trouble.

You misunderstood what i was saying. Im just tired of my hatch, and modding cars in general, at least for right now. I want a reliable DD is what I was saying.
Its really not that I dont like my hatch, I just am getting tired of the import ----, too many ricers. I just want something clean to cruise in.

Re: 80's T-Birds

between that and the price being right. Paint and some D's and it will be right. Maybe HMT kit in the future but just a O0 -ish DD for the mean time lol. How bad are the 6's on gas stock?

The color is very homosexual on the last T-Bird

They can look decent I guess, Im just considering because the price is right. Besides, I'm already as good as hitched and my girl is fine as hell, so im not worried about the no ----- factor in the mean time, I get enough as it is.

Re: 80's T-Birds

I had an 82. It had a 302 in it, but they wern't injected yet. It was the last year for carburetors, and the carbs used on these cars were "feedback" carbs. Detroit was trying eveything they could think of to make carbed cars meet the emissions standards. They failed, and the carbs sucked. Stay away from them and stick with the later eighties birds. A superbird could be fun, but is rare enough to be expensive to repair.

Re: 80's T-Birds

the last one i had was a 92 5.0 .
i drove that bitch from Detroit to Washington state for 40 hours and can say that they are a great riding car on the highway.
the best i think i got was a whopping 27 mpg with a whopping 190 hp. but she felt nice and smooth cruising on the open highway.
i eventually sold the car for a civic for fuel economy...realized the civic got better fuel economy and was just as fast as the pig.
i have to admit though that the 5.0 was a good motor while it lasted. didnt loose a drop of oil and seemed fairly smooth for a pushrod v8.
i actually kinda miss it once in awhile. but nothing like my old civic ef sedan :'(

Re: 80's T-Birds

oh yeah the 90+ body style is teh hotness, I like that model. I dunno, I might not sell my hatch, really just trying to make my mind up and not make a dumb move. I just put the motor and thrans in the hatch, if i sold it then bought a lemon, I'd feel like a dumbass.
