8 gallon of oil + highend pc = ULTRA quiet ULTRA cool (literilly) pc..
bad ass to say the least.. caue im ------- tired..
http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/01/...ans/index.html Common sense dictates that submerging your high-end PC in cooking oil is not a good idea. But, of course, engineering feats and science breakthroughs were made possible by those who dared to explore the realms of the non-conventional. Members of the Munich-based THG lab are only too happy to confirm this fact. And not only did we find that our AMD Athlon FX-55 and GeForce 6800 Ultra equipped system didn't short out when we filled the sealed shut PC case with cooking oil - but the non-conductive properties of the liquid coupled created a totally cool and quiet high-end PC, devoid of the noise pollution of fans. The PC case - or should we say tank - also offered a new and novel way to display and show off your PC components. http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/922...cstart62bo.jpg http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/159...cstart51sh.jpg http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/274...cstart71ev.jpg http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/4218/oelpcende0ur.jpg |

I'd do it just to drop off at bestbuy and make them fix it. :y

Re: 8 gallon of oil + highend pc = ULTRA quiet ULTRA cool (literilly) pc..
I'd give you props if you had 3.6ghz on an Athlon, but on every other proccesor thats expected. And 3.6 on a P4 is not considered overclocking. :8

yeah id second that geek coment. i used to do stuff with comps but damn you guys take it to another level
look at this guy over here. hes got anit freeze in his comp what the hell |
Re: 8 gallon of oil + highend pc = ULTRA quiet ULTRA cool (literilly) pc..
LOL, i find it kinda cool. I would like to build my own computer sometime...But I was all topend ----.

Re: 8 gallon of oil + highend pc = ULTRA quiet ULTRA cool (literilly) pc..
100% distilled water would be better than having anitfreeze in there with those temps. Water conducts more heat away per gram than antifreeze. Antifreeze is only used in cars to keep the coolant from freezing in low temperatures and to keep the liquid from boiling away at operating temps.

Re: 8 gallon of oil + highend pc = ULTRA quiet ULTRA cool (literilly) pc..
looks cool but i prefer co2 cooling. but i used to only use it when benchmarking the speed and then backed it down. i used to be all into computers. got my a+ certification( which is a cake walk) at 16 work that summer at a repair place and never worked in another computer place because of school hours. building you own computer is easy seting up the os and driver is probably the hardest thing

Re: 8 gallon of oil + highend pc = ULTRA quiet ULTRA cool (literilly) pc..
and it also lubricates the water pump ever so slightly. also, i would use 50/ alchahol and 50% water.
|
Re: 8 gallon of oil + highend pc = ULTRA quiet ULTRA cool (literilly) pc..
meh they tried it with water it doesnt work because the water is a dielectric they recommended motor oil as the best for doing a similiar setup
|
Re: 8 gallon of oil + highend pc = ULTRA quiet ULTRA cool (literilly) pc..
shits pointless. i still kinda wanted to try it, but i overclocked my computer a few times, then i was done with that. right now i run a mobile athlon 1.4ghz at 1.7 just cause thats what it runs at when i put the fsb jumper on 333 instead of 266 and it does everything i need it to, even play half life 2 and f.e.a.r.
