I visit crutchfield often, but I look at the $89 cd players and they look nice to me, knowing damn well they'll skip, so then I start looking at the $400 one, and then I realize it's too much for what I want. Somewhere in between lies a good buy that won't skip, and it seems we have some people here who might actually know what they're talking about, what I'm asking, and we can all be friends.

Plus, I'd hate to tell you about how many house speakers I've hooked up in cars.

ok, ill give you a little more

personally, i have owned 2 alpines and loved them both, my current one is a 9856.

also, i owned a 983u panasonic deck and i wish i still had it.

as for mids/highs, i was always a big fan of my infinity reference components. the front was a mid/crossover/tweeter 3 piece per side setup, and the rears were a two way 6.5"

i never powered them with an amp, but for the sub amp, my phoenix gold 400watt does the mtx 12 quite well and can be had pretty cheap

****, the fact that you have no amp on your regular speakers leads me to believe you're mexican. As far as the 3 way with tweeters, we're going to need simpler than that. I'm not mounting any bullshit on my door panels.

I've always like alpines because of the volume ****. I don't know what it is about the volume on a ****, but it's good. Pioneer decks seem to have preset crossovers and I don't like that ----. My bullshit kenwooooooo has the same thing.

6.5 pioneer smoken good at a ok price. Nice and tight. Snare drum just snaps, due to the kevlar cone.

nice system thrown together right there. i also would recommend a jl audio 10w3 or even a 12w3. id go with that phoenix amp a well, very good amp to use. also rockford fosgate and power acoustik and profile amps are great imo. as for mp3 playing decks, id would get either the alpine or panasonic like mentioned above. also eclipse unites are solid too.

Dang, I got links and alllllll dat.

When you say the amp can run 250x2, can I bridge that one if I'm only going to run one sub, or does the dual voicecoil on the sub mean I would hook one channel to one coil and the other to the other. (Am I remembering that correctly?)

Thanks for the visual.

well for the above post.....i like audiobahn imortal subs......1500rms 10 in gives an amazing clear sound and can hit hard while still being able to pu out most other everydayer soundsystems......

infinity components are my speakers of **** has the right idea with that.....you dont have to modify anything to install them, just get the proper size.\ you said your doing a sealed box,,, and you dont listen to rap...id recomend geting a ported box, because it allows beter response from the sub when its hiting the slightly higher notes, and also alows it to hit faster for fast bass drumb beats and what not....

I rock a alpine head unit...125$ new...can get it at walmart for 89$ now....or a little while ago....only skiped when i botomed my car out racing..

the amps to the speakers and subs, do not have to be top of the line for an every day system...your not really pushing that much power where distortion comes to be an issue.....just stay away from the ebay specials that youv never hurd of..

One of the most important things is you wiring...dont buy a walmart wire kit, peice one together....buy good RCA cables with a thick insulator....this prevents distortion before it gets to the amp, wich any distortion will be amplified...Make sure you get thicker gauge wire than recomend to power and use the same to ground... get a good distribution block if you are going to run two amps.....

and about the wireing....each sub is difrent,.....most amps can be briged and wired.....if i remeber corectly you do not want to hook up two difrent chanels to one sub because you will be puting difrent power lvs to the difrnt voice coils, as well as a difrent set of frequencies cause it would be hard to get the crossovers exactly the same........thats a no no....and two chanl amps are never the exact same watage in each....

the sub should have ways to wire it if it is dual voice coils, to wire for 8ohms 4ohms, and posibly 2ohms, depending on what type it is....

your mom's a mexican.

seriously though, i never had any amps on my surround speakers because I never really listen to loud music and that kind of money was better spent elsewhere.

as for pioneer, never been a fan of the look and the bullshit presets, but you can turn them off.

ps - kenwood does suck.
