Re: 30 psi on a sohc
30 psi with compatible T04E compressor whould net you in the 400 (probably plus) whp range, maybe a bit more or a bit less depending on what you've done with the engine. This is, of course, on racegas and something other than stock camshaft. Head porting I dunno, since I neither know a lot about Y7 head, nor do I know anyone whose tried for big power with a Y7 head. Stock Z6 heads have seen 400-425 at 30 psi, which is what I'm basing all this on.

Re: 30 psi on a sohc
30 psi would be ------- insane
I can butt-feel the difference going from 10psi - 15psi on my built a6, going from 15psi - 30 psi would just be ------- crazy I dont think I would be able to control it To be honest, I think if youre going to spend that much money, your probably better off going with a b series motor. Im a hardcore d16 guy, but when going that big, id probably switch over |
Re: 30 psi on a sohc
Flow through a tiny D-port won't give as big a gains as you're thinking they will, WOT. Past 250-275, it's law of diminishing returns played out on a disheartening level.
You ever see how Terry (Boostfed) on HT got a HUGE jump in power/psi going from 2.5 to 3" charge pipe in the 550-750 whp operating range? It's that all over again, on a smaller scale. Until you start hogging out ports until the car feels like total ass off boost, it's not that big a difference. |
Re: 30 psi on a sohc
Not that 400-425 whp is anything to sneeze at.

Re: 30 psi on a sohc
whats the big deal? I remember a local guy over here pushing 30 on his d16y5. big 16g turbo, srp pistons, eagle rods, methanol injection...
it was good for an 11.3 on a pegleg l3 tranny and 130mph traps. |

Re: 30 psi on a sohc
so how much am i lookin into spending to run this 30psi and what parts shoud i use
thanks Floyd |
Re: 30 psi on a sohc
Well, Floyd, the NE Crew has about $500 in their engine, but half the parts were donated, and we only expect to have it last 50-75 miles.
What do you want out of "30 psi," big fish? |
Re: 30 psi on a sohc
JD, who is doing the tranny?
had a long chat with Fowee tonight......... Drunken mind invasion needed......... HX on boost? Did I mention the main girdle doesn't need clearancing? |
Re: 30 psi on a sohc
You mean you aren't doing the tranny??
PS - I'm not saying we're planning on pushing 30 psi. It might end up being 31 or 32 psi. You know how it goes. |
