Because GM is giving you something to work with. If they came out with this thing and the heads flowed like 4 banger heads and it had 4 banger like compression theyd be putting out a 520ish hp truck. Then it would be in a whole diffrent ballpark for crash test ratings, insurance, and regulations. plus who seirously needs a 500hp daily driven truck. (out of the general public thats going to buy this thing.) 400hp 400 torque is a hell of allot for a 3500 pound truck

OK..what about some of the 4 bangers putting out 200-250hp? Thats less than 1 third making over more than half the power. :1

Why bother putting a 6.0L in if not for maximum horsepower? Why not make a smaller engine and turbocharge it? Better gas mileage and easily able to add power.
