83 celicas came with them factory in the states? or are these just swaps people have done?

According to Autotrader.com, nope, they only had 2.4l 4 cyl engines at 105hp, and the Celica Supra had a 2.8l v6 at 150hp

 

AFAIK, it never came it any North American models

It came in the Soarer, Celica Supra, Crown, Cressida, and Altezza frames.

We never got the Crown. The Celica/Supra and Cressida used M series engines over here. The Soarer had a 2JZ.

I need to get a set of 1g-gte pistons.. for dirt cheap... any ideas

 

talk to clayton(airjockey) might be able to track sum down. if not most importers will do it for ya if there isnt a modle using the same bore.

turbopanda on h-tech was selling these forged 1g-gte pistons some time ago.
PM him, hopefully he can help you out..

 

ya I talked to him about it, I didnt care for his price on new pistons, I was hoping this car was offered in the US, and you could just go to schucks/etc and pick up some cheap pistons for it. But doesnt look that way.
