1991 CRX Si Vs. 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD
OK, Im sure that this is going to start a fight, but I want to know your opinions.
I currently have a 1991 CRX Si with a blown engine, rods are knocking. My question is: Would I be better off (speed, $, cheap parts - wise) just getting something like a Eagle Talon AWD Turbo or sinking a bunch of money into the CRX putting a ZC and turbo into it. My goal is to run low 14s, high 13s, without spending a fortune. Thanks for your help Jon Black |
Re:1991 CRX Si Vs. 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD
this one is simple... even though I am a total honda guy..
FACT It is easy to make a DSM go fast for less money than it would for a honda. FACT DSM's styling looks like complete ----, and visibilty just blows, just go drive one and you will understand. FACT A DSM AWD lightly modded will kick the living ---- out of a FWD Honda crx zc turbo, even with a a nice set of slicks. FACT It is easy to acheive a incredibly fast street car with DSM's and keep it very relibile. The 4g63 is a incredible motor. FACT Honda ownz.. ;D Good luck Jeff frank |

that wasnt a real fact.. just my opinion.. :)
you would never see me in a dsm anyday, unless I am fixing it for someone else. Oh and I cant belive I forgot my favorite one.. FACT 95% of DSM owners think they know absolutely everything :o |
Re:1991 CRX Si Vs. 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD
guess i'll be part of the 5% that don't know everything ;D
DSM's can be made very fast for cheap but you gotta be ready for some headache...they require a lot of maintance (sp) i've had mine for about a year (90 awd tsi) i love it (when its running) its very easy to make them 13 sec cars even with the stock sidemount, injectors and turbo. just do a lot of reading about them check out www.dsm.org www.dsmtalk.com that should get you started. hth :D |

Re:1991 CRX Si Vs. 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD
I have lots of friends with very fast DSM's, I dont have a single friend who hasn't had to replace his tranny atleast once, or replace his clutch atleast twice. A tranny replacement on an awd seams to run about 2,500+. Clutches arent cheap either. Shop time is a killer, there is a lot of stuff to take apart to get the tranny/clutch out of an awd. sure its cheap to make a DSM fast, its just extremely expensive to keep it fast. My friend Allen here in Anchorage Alaska ran a 13.72 with a 91 plymouth laser fwd turbo with $50. in mods... Cut off exhaust at the downpipe, KnN air filter, manual boost controller and race gas. Oh, thats with a stock clutch and 142,000 miles. The car only ran for 2 weeks after he bought it

Re:1991 CRX Si Vs. 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD
The only thing that keeps alot of us from being dsm owners, is dsm owners. Most of them sware there the fastes thing on the road, they rev on everyone, luv body kits, bigg wheels and men..., there your typical ricer kinda like neons or sentra's

Re:1991 CRX Si Vs. 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD
Ya know, I think there are about a million more Honda owners that think they know everything and no absolutly ----. It does go both ways, but I think Honda oners are a lot worse. Infact this bored probibaly makes up 70% of honda owners that know wtf their talking about.

Re:1991 CRX Si Vs. 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD
for me its styling of 1g, crank walk on 2g, and reliability of both....
you know the saying, cheap, reliable, fast pick any 2 cheap, reliable = civic cheap, fast = dsm or z28 reliable, fast = z06 vette |
