Re:1990 tsi?
well their fast. and with little dough get even faster. good find man. really good find. keep her.
|
Re:1990 tsi?
might not be bullshit... if the previous owner cranked it up a bit 14 lbs on the stock motor is very possible... there fast cars just um... smoke people...

Re:1990 tsi?
0-60 6.8
1/4 mile 15.1 there good street cars because of the all whell drive. and with little mods you can make them super fast. i have an article in a mag that shows you 3 steps to get a 100 extra ponies to the wheels for cheap. |
Re:1990 tsi?
My gf's bro has a 1991 Eagle Talon TSi AWD. That thing is ------ QUICK, on street tires and ---- he did a high 12. Love that car, very good cars.

Re:1990 tsi?
i have a 92 awd...with a fucked trans. they are badaas cars for power but they are not built like a honda.
|
Re:1990 tsi?
cant go wrong with a 6 bolt... there basically bullet proof
|
Re:1990 tsi?
6 bolt bullet proof you say?
i just picked up a 90 laser rs turbo and i guess it has the 6-bolt swap in it...i need to do my research |
Re:1990 tsi?
i believe b4 93 they are six bolt but dont quote me on that
|
Re:1990 tsi?
yup 90-early 92's were all 6 bolt engines
|
Re:1990 tsi?
i almost got one through a trade last week but it was a 94 and i don' like the body style. i have a lowrider regal with hydros that i was selling and the kid wanted it so bad, he asked me to trade his straight across but i said no. so he sold it for $3500 and bought my car. his car was insanely quick and i loved the all wheel launch ;D

Re:1990 tsi?
I had a 1998 GST
<----- see pic I was running 14-15psi. It was pretty fast, but 1st & 2nd gear was pretty useless :P |
Re:1990 tsi?
cool thank you guys! nows just the matter of finding the 3K for it. the guy im buying it from has 4 tsi's 2 for sale one for himself and and newer one for his son. seems like a bad ass little car.

Re:1990 tsi?
DSM's are cool.... here are some things to watch out for:
tranny is the weak link (heavier car + lots of HP = crunch) change timing belt every 50K, or the valves will start smacking the pistons 14B's are efficient up to 16-17 psi never buy a 7 bolt, they get crankwalk |

Re:1990 tsi?
It doesn't sound like you know what your getting yourself into. I've spent the last year and more $ than i spent on the car in parts just getting the car to a reliable level. I'm not trying to sound like a dick but majority of these cars are driven hard and mechanicaly neglected. The stock "boost guage" is not a boost guage, it measures voltage off of the MAF and is no way accurate. You have some serious reading to do before you buy this car. Good luck ;)

Re:1990 tsi?
Only way to go 8)
Is it AWD for FWD? Any questions you have about DSM's, just ask. I've helped build a few 6 bolts in my time. Before you buy it, make sure 3rd gear synchro is ok. Also, make sure it idles well. |
Re:1990 tsi?
Come on, how come no one else jumped on the whole "Crankwalk" bandwagon. DSM's are queer in general, well they're just gay because of how cheap they can be made quick :X. If it's AWD i would worry more about your transfer case than any of this mystical "Crankwalk" bs : )

Re:1990 tsi?
ok here is the deal on the one i might buy.. new head, new timing belt, new clutch. idles well, i had it in 3rd and it shifted smooth but down shifting into 1st it grinds so that syncro must be jacked. any more info is well appreciated....
