Default 1984 Daytona Turbo-Z

Ok, I know I've posted this a few time's now, but I don't seem to be getting enough information.

I have an 84 Daytona Turbo-Z, and I want to upgrade a few things before it goes back onto the road.

Plans - New turbo
Cool Air Intake
Intercooler
BOV
Bigger Injectors
3" Exhaust

Now, before the car came off the road, the engine ran beautifully. Still needed a few fine tunings, but apart from that, it was great. The turbo (from what I felt) was working well (getting up to 10-13 psi).

I purchased an 86 Daytona Turbo-Z for some body parts.

Banger68 threw in a few goodies. Including a new Garret T1 turbo (not as many Km's as mine, pics below). Now, I know I want to upgrade the Turbo, but I was thinking of going to a T2 (or maybe T3..). I also go an Intake Manifold off of the 86 (pics below)

When holding the two up to the engine for closer examination, we noticed that the bolt up's are different (intake manifold)

What am I going to have to get to make this intake work on my engine?

Also, I've seen alot of custom turbo mounting the last whille, and I was wondering, if I got a bigger turbo, would it even fit into the stock position? Where could I mount it if I had to mount it elsewhere?

As far as intercooling goes, I was going to order an aftermarket intercooler and install it infront of the rad, behind the bottom grill on the bumper. (http://www.johnnyracer.com for example's)

Im really into all the imports with the crazy engine dressing's and performance part's, and I want to incorporate that into my engine.

Im not very smart when it come's to this kind of work, so I was wondering if anyone has done anything like this and can point me in the right direction's. Im the kind of person that would just rather be told the best thing I could do to something, performance wise.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike Brennan

Another post from another board I made.

Hey guys,

Well, now is the time to start modding/upgrading the engine.

To be honest, Im not to smart when it come's to engine's and turbo's, etc.

So, here is where all of you come into play.

I need some help with deciding what to do, and how to do it.

Step1: Upgrading the Turbo. Come's stock with a Garret T1 (which you all know). Now, I want to upgrade to a T2. Some of you have told me that all you need is a different housing or something along those lines. What exactley would I have to get for doing this? I want to get the most out of it, and I don't care what it costs, because right now, $$$ isn't a problem. Do I need a different computer? Please post pics if you have any.

Step2: Intercooling. I know I need an intercooler, but Im not sure what to get. I was wanting to place it at the bottom of the front grille. Is this possible? What would I need to do this? Where can I find aftermarket intercoolers for a reasonable price? Please post pics if you have any.

Step3: Cool air. Im not sure if Im correct, but all I need is to get rid of the stock air intake and get cone filter, etc. What would you guys suggest? Post pics if you have them.

Step4: To do with turbo. Thinking about getting a turbo timer and bov. What are your takes on the TT. What BOV's do you suggest? Post pics please.

Step5: Controlling the amount of boost. What would you suggest for doing this?

Step6: Injectors. Thinking about getting some bigger injectors. Again, what would you suggest and where can I get them?

Step7: Wide band O2 Sensor w/ monitor. Any information would be awesome.

Step8: Engine dress up. Im thinking of going with a Black/Chrome/Red colour scheme. What does your's look like?

Thanks alot, and I know Im asking alot out of you, But I just want to become more knowledgeable. Even if you can just give me a few site's that I can do some reading up on, that would be great.

my buddy has a turbo Z, and he's gonna be running close to 20 psi. he just finished the 2.5 DOHC head swap on it, so he has more flow. for tuning, you can re-calibrate the ecu, and he told me that theres a way to you put a fuse or some ----, and when it hits " stock " boost, it wont give you a fuel cut, so it thinks your running the stock amount.

for a blow off valve, run a turbo xs rfl, they are ------- LOUD on TD's. he has a FMIC from a turbo dodge with custom piping, which was quite easy to install. check out his site : www.cardomain.com/id/badachew

---- that, go stand alone. thats what i would do.
i would get the injectors cleaned, and i would atleast test the compression on that shizzle. and the fuel pump and clutch will probvobly need to be replaced. new tranny oil, and rear end oil.

just do a basic full *** tune up.

if i was you, i would get a bigger turbo. allot bigger, or run dual whatever. i would also get a new exhaust manifold.

http://www.thedodgegarage.com/ read that, and then go back and read it again and you will have a much better idea on what to do with your car.

i think it was the dodgegarage... he was running 10s on a STOCK BOTTOM END and big boost... using one big intercooler made of stock intercoolers too...
