12psi+months of basemaps+tuning today=Engine no Worky :(
 

Well today i finally got a chance to go to ReNR's hosue to attempt to tune my car. We got to this spot where the road was nice and long and traffic was minimal. I started it on a rolling start in 3rd gear from 2,800 Rpms till 7,000. Well i guess all months driving on my basemap killed my ringlands. The car immediately shut off once i let off the gas at 7,000. i popped the clutch and it started up only ti blow a bunch of smoke into the cockpit. WTF???? i tunr around and park it while the car is running and to my surprise i see lots of smoke coming from the valve cover brather. :o

RenR: Dude, is that what i think it is
Me: yeah..WOW!!!
RenR: do you even still want to tune???
ME: You think???

needless to say we took a look at the data gatthered and it didnt look to bad. The thing i think that killed it was a major drop in fuel around 3000-5000 and my AFRS were around 11 or so. The timing on TE was like 28 or so around that RPM range so i think that might have had something to so with it aswell.


So now im going to have to put together another motor with the spare blocks i have in my garage. I have a ZC sohc block and a Y8 head (Sans valve cover) and a Y8 IM ( sans Fuel rail )

So if anyone has a fuel rail and a VC for that head please let me know ASAP caus i need it to finish the car by track day saturday.

I might have the VC, I'll check it out tomorrow. I know I have a fuel rail, but it has a stripped out FPR hole. I ran it w/ only one for a bit w/ no problems, you could try it if you want.

dammit i wish i would have asked you before i spent 30 bucks on one from egay. however ill take it in case i dont get it here in time. when i get the one from egay ill just give it back to you if thats OK.

Damn sorry to hear the bad new Julio. But you've boosted on that zc for awhile so it was just a matter of time I'm thinking. I've got my LS up for sale ;) Good thing your working that graveyard shift otherwise you'd be SOL on a ride. Good luck with this sohc zc mini me setup.

Vato I told you it was a "I hurrrd type of thing that the a6 dist bolt right onto the y8 head". Just remember what Eazy said, "Don't qoute me boy cause i ain't said ----." 8) I just ditched almost all of my sohc ----, almost all of my honda ---- to a guy for scrap metal. So I can't really help you with ---- you may be needing.

bamboo, the stripped fpr hole can be tapped to the next size right? simple fix.
try to get it to julio asap since he is carless :-\
