That's because most Factory turbo cars that use a Mass Air system are Singel or Sequential systems. With a twin design, it would be impractical (hard to pipe 2 inlets from opposite sides of the vehicle into one location) and inaccurate to measure inoming air from both turbos with the meter in Draw Thru configuration. Mass Air Meters read a linear flow. Turbo inlets, even of the exact same type, wiull have different readings. The mass from one maybe a hair lower then the other, but it may output more air. The meter will have no way of knowing this if it's in front of the turbo and you'll have lean spots, hiccups and possible driveability issues. Placing the meter AFTER the compressors releives all that. The meter can now exactly how much air the turbo are sending to the Throttle Body.

is it really a matter of convinence of placement, it would be a lot easier to place as a blow through.
With twins yes. In a single, it's actually pretty easy to place it in front of the turbo.

also, i was thinkin of reversing my shortie headers, but i havent looked seriously at what kinda room i would have for plumbing with them like that. would you think it would be better to use some old cast manifolds like from a truck or somethng that would either point the exhaust straight down or up
No just flip the shorties if you're going to builda twin kit. Reverse the shorties if you're going to make a single kit. Simple and effective inside a Fox body. The only issue you have is clearance for spark plug wires with set of slipped headers ina twin design (just run some high temp boot covers)
