Yeah I got lazy and couldnt find a shroud that can cover up the huge porsche projectors in the civic headlight housing. Its 90% done.

i pretty much hacked up the back to make the projectors fit. keep in mind they are huge compared to other projectors.

the stock lens would distort the light output and screw with the cut off line

i would have painted the headlight housings or use them denji [sp?] type headlights

nice work though, hid retrofits aren't the easiest things in the world as simple as they look

I like projectors, and they are very important in Germany to prevent smacking a deer on the country road.
but ---- son! you could have scored a set off ebay already made for around $50 shipped. I understand doing it yourself but they are probably illegal, plus where are the high beam lenz? they look good though.

Let's see how long that last 10% will take. And I mean in the car working properly and adjusted.

I think he was just saying that he would have just got stock headlights instead of fooling with a HID retrofit. But I was also thinking he meant the aftermarket junk headlights, in which case I agree with you. I bet you could simply sand and polish a circle portion of the inside of the lens and put the projectors behind it, but meh I'm too lazy for all that.

yeah i seen a post where somebody put HID's on their civic and then taped off a square then sanded with like 3000 grit and it came out pretty nice for what it was.

the hi beam is built into the projectors. whenever i hi beam theres a motor inside the projector that moves down, allowing more light to pass. so basically hi beam is HID as well. see the problem with denji projectors is that they look ricey and the output isnt as great. look at some of the output beam shot. i do not like ricey projectors and adding an ebay hid pnp kit. they causes glare to oncoming traffic and the output isnt as great. just my 2 cents

and i dont think denji can do this.

in that case you have a valid point, and seeing the results all the time invest in it its well worth it, nice job. I have the fake projectors and they are ok, but I could use some better ones. nice job again. that ---- is too bright.

I think that is awesome. I dont care what all the haters say. You did something creative and it works great!

I wish I had lights like that. Stock EG lights with stock bulbs suck and you cant see anything. Maybe it was cool in 1994 that you couldn't see anything but its 2007 people. wake the ---- up and realize that its new technology and it works a lot better than stock equipment invented 10-20 years ago. Even the Ebay projectors work better.

Re: 07 Porsche Carrera S Projectors in 92-95 Civic HeadLights

bah sorry to post again, but you should probably paint the housings black. It isn't necessary, but there is a small amount of light that'll bounce around in the headlight and cause glare.

In the picture that shows the cutoff (which is pretty damn nice) it looks like there's some spots of glare shining on the building, but that could just be the picture. Either way, it'd be nicer to other drivers if you painted it black.

well my friend has a wrecking yard and he specialized in porsche's parts. And i came upon a 2007 Porsche Carrera S with two headlights with busted lens. I asked him how much for them because i know their output beam pattern was amazing. He said he can not sell it due to the crack lens and no one would want them and he told me to just take them because he's limited on space. So nice score for me. But you can buy just the projectors from Ebay for $250-$350 for a set and then just retrofit them into your headlights. But just warning you that its really time consuming. (Buying parts, cutting, retrofitting, aiming, etc. )

Re: 07 Porsche Carrera S Projectors in 92-95 Civic HeadLights

actually i have two set already retrofitted. one is painted flat black and the other one is all chrome. One set has Porsche projectors in them, and the other one has Audi RS6 A6 projectors in them. I still love the Porsche output.

One more night shot for the hell of it.
http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...ZkMzF5NTQx.jpg

oh btw, theres no glare at all onto oncoming traffic. anything above the cutoff line is just blue.

Nice, man those things are bright. I wanted to snag some of Donald's HIDs, but not sure how much work/wiring goes into it and if it's even CLOSE to the light output you see here. Anyone running them? Oh, and what's the deal with the low beam only stuff? That seems gay.

man yeah I was just looking through the pictures and noticed you showed the black housing ones at the beginning then had some chrome ones in the pictures.

Anyway it looks really good and you got a good deal. I can't see myself paying 200-300 for that though.

hmtcrxsir 06-29-2007 12:11 AM

Re: 07 Porsche Carrera S Projectors in 92-95 Civic HeadLights

expect to pay about $500-$700 for complete retrofit. and close to $1200 for complete retrofit by a professional. which totally sucks ass. But i got a good price for everything. I guess i just paid for headlights and ballast and D2S bulbs

its not just low beam. theres a motor built inside the projectors and whenever you click on your hi beam it actuates the motor pulling down the cutoff shield that blinds oncoming traffic. do not get pnp kits and do it right. retrofit.

take the projectors you have on your crx and bake them. so the glass seperates from the body of the projector. and start modifying it so you can fit a single xenon projector in there. It would be perfect for a retrofit. bmw projectors such as the BMW E46 projector fits into the ebay projectors and you can get them for $50 shipped and all you need is a Ballast, and D2S bulbs for $150 more. Its not too bad.
