**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
Ok, it's a 93 D16Z6 with a T25. I made my own Manifold, downpipe, and all my intercooler piping, and, the best part of it is I still have my A/C, yes i'm a wuss. And for all the newbies wanting to know how much it really costs,
230 –Intercooler (CCA) free – t25 turbo 85 –log manifold (made it myself, help of BMC racing head flange) free --450cc injectors 8- fix wg actuator 28 dual gauge pod (ebay) 10 fix bov and flange 100 oil lines (stealthmode and local performance shop) 19 extra oil lines 20 dp flange (BMC Racing) 172.50 S-AFC (ebay) free- manifold gasket and turbo exhaust gasket(metal) 41- hallman manual boost controller 57.50- oil pressure gauge (electric) (ebay) 52.50- boost gauge (manual) (ebay) 20- resistor box (ebay) 92- intercooler/ dp piping 5-O2 bung 46.50 -5 silicone hoses (ebay) 10- 2.5” to 3” silicone hoses (autozone) 10- little air breather (autozone) 5- home depot hose 90 15 oil pan gaskt 15-head gasket 40-DP flex and flanges (performance automotive) 5- hoses and clamps coolant (" ") total $1300 http://www.newbieforces.com/files/bb1985_05.jpg Thanks to CCA intercoolers ;) http://www.newbieforces.com/files/bb1985_00.jpg http://www.newbieforces.com/files/aa0491_01.jpg http://www.newbieforces.com/files/bb1985_07.jpg I made a fiberglass piece to hold my s-afc, turned out pretty cool. http://www.newbieforces.com/files/bb1985_04.jpg http://www.newbieforces.com/files/bb1985_03.jpg I know it's ghetto, I just put it where my old bypass valve was for my CAI. http://www.newbieforces.com/files/bb1985_02.jpg Sorry the pic is sideways. I didn't have to take anything out that was stock , all my stock radiator is in there, just had to dremel down my fan blades down a little bit and my shrowding. http://www.newbieforces.com/files/aa0491_05.jpg I redid my intercooler piping a litlle around the dp after this pic was taken, it used to only have about 1/8" b/t them, now it's like 3/4" b/t the dp and interooler pipe. http://www.newbieforces.com/files/aa0491_07.jpg http://www.newbieforces.com/files/bb1985_01.jpg My oil pressure gauge and lines...duh http://www.newbieforces.com/files/aa0491_02.jpg this one turned out really good, can't barely tell I even welded it all up,...thanks to the grinder ;D http://www.newbieforces.com/files/aa0491_03.jpg you can see the stealthmode oil drain line, I had to cut like 4" off it so that it would fit better, but it fits fine now. Also, I had to buy some extrension lines so i could run a line up to the firewall for my electric oil press gauge, then to the turbo. I had it dynoed at 8 psi and it pulled in a 162whp and 151 torque. RIght now I'm running 9 psi, so its 170whp, its quick, but not freeakin' fast, but for around town...its fun ;D It kinda spools out around 6000rpms. I'll take it to the track next month and post some times. I had no friends to help me on this one,(except for injectors and afc install) so it took about 2 weeks for install and making my piping and all. This winter, I'm thinking about going with the 14b or 16g, seeing how it will fit the same manifold and downpipe and switching to überdata. |
Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
nice setup
|
Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
yea man the setup looks real clean. great job on the charge pipes. you might wanna put some heat wrap on the downpipe, just because it comes close to the charge pipe
|
Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
will heat tape help? and where can I get it?
|
Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
put it on both the down pipe and charge pipe, dont wanna blow the entire cooling ur getting from ur intercooler by heating up ur charge pipes
|
Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
Man, what can I say. It looks beautiful... almost brings a tear to my eye :'(. Wait it did.
Nah, you did a real damn nice job of keeping it clean which is what I plan on doing. Can't wait! Gonna be a while though. Almost done w/my (pretty much) engine rebuild. Just replacing about every gasket from Throttle body to timing cover, down to oil pan. Intake/exhaust and head as well w/ARP studs ;D. A good $200 bucks that'll be worth it in the long run. Oh, new rings and bearing too, well main bearing, not rod bearings. Boosting for sure, and I mean at the very latest, xmas. Hopefully not that long, but got too much ---- I'm taking care of. w/e. I'm envious!!! |
Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
That was my main goal in this project, to keep it as clean as a hmt can be. It took me about 7 months of reading and buying parts to get this all done.

Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see

Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
Very nice...I like the manifold. How did you get the mani to look so clean? Also good choice in color for the car.

Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
I just got the hand grinder and grinded all my extra weld off. :)
|
Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
what exactly did you do with the oil lines there? is that tapped off the back of your block? i have a really bad oil leak at my T and i cant seem to get it to go away after redoing it 3 times. i want to put the T connection in the engine bay like you so it is easier to work with and i can trouble shoot better.
|
Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
very nice i like the setup. clean and love the color scheme. nice bov too. Im confused though were you saying the turbo starts to spool at 6000rpm or stop spooling at 6000rpm?
|
Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
Looks great man. and that bumper looks better now with the FMIC
|
Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
My turbo runs out of breath at 6000+ rpms, but its still a WHOLE lot faster! its about a 70 whp gain, not to shabby. :D
as for the oil lines, I ran a line off my block up to my firewall where I taped into my T fitting, and from there I put my oil press sensor on, my stock oil sensor and a line going to my turbo., then I just made a bracket out of some thin sheet metal, bent it around the oil sensor for the gauge, and screwed it into my firewall for a clean look. |
Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
i think a t28 would be a nice upgrade for ya ;) good work!
|
Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
.48 trim t3 is the way to go! i gotta .60 trim t3 and builds power past redline.
|
Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
Looks pretty sexy.. good job man! ;D
|
Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
Nice job. Where did you tap your BOV vac line to? I tapped right into that line next to the map sensor and everytime i get off the gas my car does the fluttering rattlesnake sound. :(
I'm also running a t25 on my D16z6 |
Re:**PICS** Turbo Set up done, come see
what did that center counsel come from. not the part around the shifter....the part that goes up to the radio? your set-up looks really nice!
Im jelious! |
