It doesn't happen in any other profession so please don't pull that on the designer you choose.

What basicaly happens about 98% of the time is the design gets finished, the website owner wants you to teach them how to develop and maintain their whole website, they nitpick everything, they don't want to pay anything for the art as they just decide that they can have little jimmy down the street do it for a few trips to the icecream truck and the person who put all of this work into a website gets screwed.

This would be like someone asking you to design a crazy one off manifold for their car, have you build it, ask you to install their turbo kit and teach you how it works and how to maintain your car, decide the manifold costs to much, bail out, never pay the guy who did the work and then have some local guy you know do it for a case of beer because you decide its cheeper.

I'm not saying that you're going to do any of this what so ever, but this honestly is usualy always the case. I've been fucked out of designing ---- for people several times after I have completely finished their website just because they expect me to maintain it for free, teach them how to maintain it theirselfs, set up everything for them and then they think the job is worth 150 dollars with the main website, business cards, etc, which is a ------- joke. Things of the sort have happened with contests here and you coming here to ask for a graphic designer is showing you're looking at taking the cheep way out of getting this done. So please don't do that, it ------- sucks when it happens.
Why wouldn't you set a price first and then you provide an agreed upon service, for an agreed upon price, for an agreed upon amount of time. like the rest of the world

rawr, make Steve give you a goddamn oil line kit. Also, I must say that is nice to hear about Joshrex. He's a trial to deal with sometimes, but on some level he has a good heart.

fork, rawr is a misanthrope. He doesn't deal with people like that.
