you have the right idea. Check all the fuses, everywhere. Check the starter, take it out, connect direct to the battery and see if it pops out and spins. If it does it should be good.
But either ways you have to check most of your wiring make sure nothing else melted. It now makes sense that the damn chassis was electrified. What dumbass would wire a positive lead to the ground on the tranny. That's why you should never buy a modded car, unless it is cheap as hell or you know the work was perform by a good mechanic

Bought a modded Turbo laser once for 200 bucks. Drove it home then proceded to part the ---- out of it. Then I brought it to the junkyard and they gave me 11 bucks for what was left. Best 200 bucks I ever spent.

yeah i gotta wait till monday to trailer it to my dads house (i live in an apartment complex and have no room) but after that, anybody in the Central Texas area who needs a part off of it, hit me up. ill give it to you cheap or free.
