Re: $500??
Buying or selling it?
Buying yes if you either don't care about the rust or plan to fix it, selling definitely it isn't in that bad of shape. |

how much should i give for a Y8 head?
one in the local paper for $150, says no intake but for $150 it should be complete other than the manifolds right?
|
Re: $500??
does it run? ---- go for $400 like you said...
and since when were people here on HMT scared of rust, remember dude with the turbo CRX who had no panel in his backseat floor....gangsta y0! LOL |
Re: how much should i give for a Y8 head?
the Y8 head doesnt have the distributor either, forgot to put that
A6 distributor bolts up right? whats a quick way to verify it is a Y8 head sorry for the newb questions |
Re: how much should i give for a Y8 head?
no point in using the y8 head if your going to use the a6 dizzy. since you wont have teh mad vtak the a6 head flows better.
|
Re: $500??
why wouldnt i have the vtec?
all the how to's i read about "mini mes" they use the A6 distributor |

Re: $500??
Z6 head from a 92-95 Civic Si/Ex Head gasket, intake gasket, and exaust gasket from 92-95 Civic Si/Ex Timing belt from 92-95 Civic Si/Ex Valve cover gasket for a 92-95 Civic Si/Ex RPM Activated switch, or Vtec controller (such as Fields, or APEXi) Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, or FPR from 92-95 Civic Si/Ex Timing light Lots of VTEC Stickers, and Powered by Honda stickers thats why they have vtec, most people convert to odb1 so they can run a factory ecu, and chrome/uberdata |
Re: $500??
i was going to use a switch, A6 dist bolts up to Y8 head correct?
noone has answered the $$ question yet |
Re: $500??
Bolt the T-Belt cover back on, and then bolt the drive pulley back on using the impact wrench (you did have to get one didn't you? I knew it!) Slide the Alternator belt, and AC belt back on the drive pulley. Tighten them back up respectively. Bolt the Dist. back on. The A6 Dist. is NOT going to line up to the Z6 head, so you have several options here...either use the two side bolts with large washers to hold the assembly on, or do some creative metal fabrication to make it look better. This is entirely up to you. A suggestion would be to bolt it down with the same amount of room on either side of the bolts, incase you need to advance or retard yor timing a bit. |
Re: $500??
any vtec motor (or mini me) you put in your car, and run off a switch, is going to suck. ive done it several different ways. its really not much faster than just a d16a6 if you dont use the PROPER ecu for your motor. no, not chipping your obd0 ecu to be like a vtec one, or vafc, or any other ghetto way. you put the motor in, use the correct distributor AND ecu. So it looks like you should use the y8 distributor (if you have a y8 head) and a p28 ecu. Get the obd0-obd1 conversion harness and its a piece of cake. Dont do it any other way.
|
Re: $500??
i wouldnt pay 500 for that heap. unless you have a friend in a body shop, rust that bad will come back if you fix it quickly...either way its not worth the effort imo
|
Re: $500??
yes rust is the devil
|
Re: $500?? (crx/"mini me" questions)
how does this sound...
do the Y8 head swap stay obd0 for the time being and use an rpm switch for vtec, run the Y8 fuel pressure reg and an adjustable camshaft sprocket ASAP get a P28 and the obd0 to obd1 conversion harness set up to run uberdata |
Re: $500?? (crx/"mini me" questions)
^yeah man, that'll work fine.
|
Re: $500?? (crx/"mini me" questions)
so i guess if everything goes right buying the car ill pick up the Y8 head too
|
Re: $500?? (crx/"mini me" questions)
what cars would i find a P28 in?
