zc smokin'
ok to start off i will list the engine build parts:
zc block and head eagle rods wiseco pistons 9:1 cp piston rings all new bearings all new gaskets new oil pump hks head gasket arp head studs ok this is my problem after the car gets up to temperature it blows heavy white soke out of he down pipe and you can see oil dripping from the downpipe onto the ground. at first i thought that it was piston rings but i did a compression test and leakdown test and that eliminated that as a cause: compression: 150 150 150 150 psi leakdown: 10 9 10 11 % those are pretty decent numbers for how loose i filled my piston rings. so if not the pistons or rings it must be my old ass 14b right. well i replaced my 14b with a brand new garrett t3/t04b .48/.60 turbo. and it still smokes like a son of a bitch. i am beginning to think that it is the valve seals, but my question is what would make them go bad and start leaking and what is a sure fire way to make absolutely sure that that is the problem? sorry for the long ass post i just wanted to make sure yall would have all the info needed to help answer my question. thanks for the help in advance! |
Re: zc smokin'
is it white smoke or blue smoke? if its white then i believe thats water

Re: zc smokin'
white smoke normally means water but you can see the oil pouring out of my downpipe. also the radiator never looses any coolant and the engine never over heats, but it does loose a lot of oil over a short period of time

Re: zc smokin'
uhhh those leakdown numbers are horrible, i wouldnt accept anything more than 7% on one of my motors. maybe im biased but on my fully rebuilt d16a1 with oem internals i get 3-4% leak on all cylinders.
id say its blowby. Edit: come to think of it when i leakdowned the motor the first time i got 8% leak on number 3, which was leaking from the shitty h/g into my coolant passages. So basically my motor got better numbers with a blown headgasket. Sean |
