Z6 budget boost build

thinking

LS Rods
Vitara Pistons
good head gasket
head studs

a few questions
1. how much boost should this handle with an otherwise stock engine

2. can i buy the LS rods pre sleeved for the vitara pins

3. if not can i buy the sleeves

4. what seems to be the cause of the noise in this setup?

Might as well go with a block gaurd
Im doing a big build but not the biggest, im going srp pistons, tt rods, crank re done, new rod bearings, new main bearings, kms block gaurd, cometic head gasket, skunk2 cam, new oil pump water pump and all new gaskets. , good luck on your build

Re: Z6 budget boost build

I've known these d16z6 handleing 20psi+. I'm planing to build my spare d16z6 with sleeves and good strong bottom end I want to experiment compound boosting with a sc14 supercharger and T3/T4 turbo setup for high end. If everything is working right with both working at same time 40 psi max.
But with this setup I'm trying to creat a large very wide torque band.

1. I don't know.

2. I have not looked.

3. I was told crower made them. I tried for several months to get some. I had no luck. I ended up bartering stuff for some eagle h-beams.

4. I have been told it's piston slap. I have also been told it's the fitment of the vitara wrist pin. I did not measure the piston to wall clearance on my setup. I did coat the skirts with techline dfl-1. It slapped some on start up. I say get some oversize vitaras, fill the block, bore to a factory clearance, and coat the crown w/techline cbc-1 or run water injection to keep the piston cool. Or you could use the "hardcore backyard redneck" approach and get some gx pistons not worry about sleeving the small end of the of the rod and run water injection.
