Yet another WG Q...

How would I go about converting my 14b to an external WG? Not sure how much boost'll leak. Wondering if I should just get an external one.

Bolt on a DP that blocks off the internal gate. Then put a external onto the mani.

or just weld the internal shut or use something to hold the arm in the closed position

Re:Yet another WG Q...

Converting to external gate is particularly easy in DSM turbo applications, as they have a divorced turbine discharge area. i.e. the wastegate flow is seperate from the turbine discharge. For this type of turbo, all you would want to do is remove the internal flapper, and have a pipe coming off of the flange which leads to the gate, from there you can either route the excess to atmoshpere, or route it back into the exhaust downstream. See Turbochargers.com or forcedperformance.net, these units can be bought premade, they are usually called "02 housing eliminators". HTH

i would think it would be better to block off the old gate entirely and have the external somewhere b4 the turbo on the manifold, not after it...but correct me because ive never done either

weld the flapper shut, or just get a plate that will cover the wastegate hole... either way, I still wouldnt want the damn flapper moving around.
