Bulletman 06-17-2009 02:06 PM

anyone know what size the stock injectors are for the 89ish crx?

jdmdean 06-17-2009 03:55 PM

you're using a stock ls ecu??

2BarRacing 06-17-2009 04:05 PM

stock inj are 240cc chip your ecu and get some dsm 450cc inj then no aqua valves

the only thing i had layin around was an LS ecu off a 91teg, and boy... the diff is pretty impressive from the 1.6ecu...

I know i need a tune, but i ran out of cash plus i sort of lost my job, im trying to figure out what i can use in the meantime for now. I have a set of 450cc's layin around, but with no tune i might be putting too much fuel in at low rpm so i didnt put them in

2BarRacing 06-17-2009 07:33 PM

you will be putting more fuel in anyware

yes... but its too risky putting 450cc's on an un tuned motor..

Bulletman 06-20-2009 02:49 PM

Since i know that ppl with a d15 non vtec buy a y8/z6 ect vtec head to raise the comp, My question would be is that i have a d16y7(2000 civ block) if i were to get a y8 head.. would it raise the comp?

i really dont want to raise my comp but at the same time i know y8 heads do flow better.

RyAn007 06-20-2009 03:03 PM

eye candy??????. If your car is scraping the front bumper on the bottom, why would you let the pipe hang so low, you are going to rape those couplers with a good hand ful of concrete, seriously though, do not put your piping under and of the frame and especially lower than a bumper, especially if you rub in on the ground every once and a while.Tune it with 450's, that is the only way anything will work right, sell some ---- to afford it if its to expensive, and please get matching rims and have the car painted.

most people do that just to get the "extra 25hp" from "vtec". sure it might flow better but what kind of power are you looking to put down. being as you have a stock bottom end, it will max out at 200-220 before you start breaking stuff. you can do that with that turbo you have easily. in my opinion i rather keep the non vtec head on a single cam. but if you want to put that head on there why not throw some rods and vitaras while you are at it? then lay down some better numbers.:D

Bulletman 06-21-2009 11:25 PM

ok you make a point, if i ever rip the head off, it will be to rebuild the engine for more boost,

im looking to make 200out of it, first gear max boost at redline is about 5psi, second hits 8 pounds around 3.5-4k ish rpm. Im trying to figure out how to get it to spool up quicker, i already checked my cold piping 3times to see if its leaking boost, i need some insight on troubleshooting this ----

most of that lag will get better with a tune. also a free flowing exhaust, 2.25" all the way back should be plenty for the power you want to make.

Bulletman 07-22-2009 04:56 PM

im having problem with my 270cc injectors.. one of them is not working properly..

i just mustered money out of my ass for a tunable chip... and im wondering if the stock injectors would hold up 8psi or not? any input would be great...

B18hybridhatch 07-23-2009 11:52 AM

this makes me miss my old rex, gl gettin it fixed and tuned

I'm about to scout the local wreckers tomorrow morning in hopes i find myself another set...

4G63TSleeper 07-24-2009 10:03 PM

If it were me I'd get a set of 390cc injectors AT LEAST. I'd definately rather have too much than not enough if you know what I mean. Get a set of injectors from a 89 Dodge Colt GT turbo or a 90-94 Eclipse turbo automatic (390cc) or manual (450cc). Trust me when you get a tune they'll tell you to upgrade the injectors. This makes me miss my 89 CRX too...:(

vodkas 07-30-2009 11:34 PM

I would agree with ^^^.

Cole89ef 07-30-2009 11:39 PM

You can go with DSM 550's.

I got a set for my build for under 100 dollars.

Bulletman 08-02-2009 05:48 PM

well i spent the whole last week looking for some 450cc's or anything else i could get my hands on that was cheap.. finally tomorrow hopefully i will get a set of dsm's i found them on kijiji.ca for a 100 smackers,

Last night i ended up going to the track by using my stock civic injectors, i waited long enough to build it and couldnt resist not going. Just as i get to the track my wastegate connector to the flapper of the exhaust decided to loosen itself and fall off on the way there :( So without knowing this(me being stupid and not glancing at my boost gage) i ran 15.77 with 0boost.. lol...

hunt_x 08-02-2009 06:21 PM

I need 6 and I will trade a ceramic coating job for them

Bulletman 08-15-2009 05:08 PM

ok got my chip in mail, tuned my car, put a new set of 450cc dsm's in

but now i have a problem.. im running an internal wastegate, thats supposed to be set at 8psi, while driving on the highway my wastegate flap got loose and i stopped spooling.. now after fixing and tightening the flap... now im boosing 11pounds... wtf?? can anyone tell me if there is something i can do to fix this issue?

fry12ice 08-15-2009 07:33 PM

what kind of saab did you get the BOV from?

Bulletman 08-15-2009 09:07 PM

Saab 90 or 93t, badging wasnt on the car.. hard to tell besides that it was a saab 95+model tho

yea how do you create a boost controller for something thats spooling 10psi..

if i pinch the line i can get it to boost more psi, but how do i make the wastegate sense under 10psi? would a thinner hose create more pressure and in return push more air to the wastegate so it opens sooner?

silver1 08-18-2009 08:39 AM

check your flap for bending and cheafing ,and check your wg hose for leaks.

Bulletman 08-18-2009 09:17 PM

i just replaced/re-tightened the wg hose.. still boosing 10, however the shaft that runs the wg seems a little bit crooked, i must have bent it when i re-installed it... could that cause it to ---- with boost?

It must be the rod (shaft as you call it) the boys around here use to bend it to get more boost so try straten it a bet that could help.

good luck with the build
