Yes another PCV question
1 Attachment(s)
Im trying to figure out how to configure the pcv and catch can system on a d16z6. Ive searched and searched only to find people arguing about different systems.
So... from what i understand. The catch can (WITH BREATHER) goes inbetween the valve cover and pre-turbo intake pipe? Is this correct? What i dont understand is the PCV valve bit. Ive added a pic to help explain. Is the PCV valve number 2? that plastic thing? so does number 1 and number 2 have to be capped? or can i use number 1 as a vacuum sorce for BOV? or what? please explain. Anyone? Attachment 19904 Also heard PCV valve needs to be pulled out or something, then what? |
Re: Yes another PCV question
Yes 2 is the PCV I ran a hose from the PCV to a catch can and the the catch can to the intake on my turbo...it seems to work fairly well...
then I used 1 as a vac source for my BOV and Wastegate, ran a hose off of 1 to a T and the split it to them.... HTH |
Re: Yes another PCV question
thanks for clearing that up man, I was wondering the same thing
|
Re: Yes another PCV question
1 is a nice big extra vacuum port now, I run my BOV off it but I don't see why people need to run vacuum manifolds when you have that.

Re: Yes another PCV question
I've got a question.... what do you do with the other VC vent opening on the passenger side of the VC? |
Re: Yes another PCV question
Hook it to the catchcan or suction pump too. The #2 piece comes from the charcoal canister in the bottom of the block so it's pulling gases from the block. Instead of pulling all of your gases from there (like pulling the VC gases down through the oil channels) it's best to vent both the VC and the back of the block. I just have a breather filter on my VC with my #1 thing connected to the catchcan. This spring I'll figure out a way to go straight from the block to the can without going through the charcoal canister. My catch can right now is a Gatorade bottle with a breather filter attached to the cap (bad idea, the orange cap plastic has been melting due to the gas and oil) so I need to fix that ---- too... bleh.

Re: Yes another PCV question
Hook it to your ------- mouth and breathe, hopefully you'll die for asking such a FREQUENTLY ANSWERED QUESTION.

Re: Yes another PCV question
Okay cheers guys, we are almost there. But does the PCV valve have to be open? Hollowed out?
So i need to run 3 pipes to the catch can? One from PCV? one from valve cover and the other going to the pre turbo intake pipe? Or 2 pipes, and just use a breather for the valve cover? |
Re: Yes another PCV question
Either hollow out the PCV valve or replace it with a straight through plastic barb fitting.

Ass :P |
Re: Yes another PCV question
Half of your posts are retarded noob questions that have been answered before. The other half also provide zero value to this site. I suggest you start searching so you don't look so ------- ignorant.

Re: Yes another PCV question
WTF is your problem man. This guy opened the door on on this topic so I asked a question that is DIRECTLY related to his question. So get off my nuts

Hmmm i always wondered on the CRX I am just using the stock PCV I though the preturbo vac would pull it open...but i also assumed it might not be enough vac... FYI my 95 civic VX uses a stock hollow PCV form the factory ;) |

Anyway back to topic, someone in another forum suggusted to leave to PCV system as it is, so it does'nt put gases into the atmospere, muck up my ride with crap and give me a headache. |
Re: Yes another PCV question
It's simple.. vent the ports or have a vacuum source pulling them. Any way you can do these things is usually fine.

Re: Yes another PCV question
The second one will just vent them, I have mine hooked up like the first one. The catch can will catch the ---- and oil so the turbo doesn't burn it, and the turbo intake will provide suction.
For better suction some people use check valves in conjunction with the intake manifold port and the turbo intake port. |
Re: Yes another PCV question
you want the first one. That or just run the pcv valve to the canister and vent the valve cover vent to the atmosphere w/one of those tiny filters. Only reason why i'd vent it to atm is b/c theres a lot of oil vapor in the valve cover and I'd prefer it to stay in there instead of constantly being sucked out
|
Re: Yes another PCV question
i just have hoses from the black box of the back of the block and the vc to the ground.....works great.....before i had one of those oil/water separators from home depot and it would clog a lot and start pressurizing my crank case.

Re: Yes another PCV question
So to verify, im gunna use #1 but instead of a tee, put a breather filter on the valve cover?
And am i gutting out the pcv valve or leaving it as it is? |

Re: Yes another PCV question
^^^ He means gut the PCV valve
