the old cam that came out of my car, that broke, stock y8 head, is on the bottom. the new cam from julio is on top. the only differences are the vtec lobes on the new cam are signifigantly thinner then the old ones...but that is the only difference. is that gonna be alright to put this cam in my motor, or is it a z6 cam? or somethin i dunno anyhelp would be great. i thought mabe there are some insignifigant differences in the years of the y8 cams...i dunno though. i jsut need to know if i can use the new (top) cam in my stock y8 head thanks.

The only thing I can think of is maybe they made them different thicknesses different years? Did you ask Julio about it? I don't think it will be a problem as long as the rockers make good contact with the lobes...

A Z6 cam is going to, visibly, have a lot less lift on the lobe.

Re: y8 cam...i dunno lol little help, update

ya, we got it put in a fired up. it works, but there is a noticable whine from the motor now. it didnt have it before hand, it doesnt happen at like 500 rpms, but more than that you can hear the whine, could that be from the cam?

if the timing belt is too tight it could whine too.
