wrx td04L/oil feed Q's

just wondering if there's anything to look out for when using a TD04 from a WRX with regards to oil lines.

i will be teeing off the pressure sensor. What diameter hose should I use and what size is the oil inlet fitting/thread on the turbo(i've found other posts on this but i couldn't find a clear answer).

do i need some sort of restrictor in the feed to prevent oil passing the bearings!

also, what size is the return

help me pop my forced induction cherry :)

The oil feed size is m10x1.5. Clocking the damn turbo is a bitch...still haven't been able to do it yet. Need to get a set of huge heavy duty snap ring pliers first. For the drain size I would say should be at least a -10 line and the feed I would go with a -3. With a -3 feed line you should be ok without a restrictor. Also I was never able to find a restrictor that would work with this turbo so i went with Stealthmode's ball valve.

awesome! thanks for your info. i'll need to rotate the housing too. i tries removing the snap ring but it's not an easy job, i'll need to eat more spinach before i can get the snapring off :)

get a set (big and small) cir-clip pliers at sears, after the clip is off remove the compressor housing. remove the retaining pin from the housing. for the turbine side remove the big v-band like clamp then tap the housing off with a hammer (tap not hit). Remove the pin in that side and put back together. BTW you'll need 2 people to get the compressor c-clip back on, one to use the plires and one to push it down into place

that ------- snap ring is the #1 thing I dis-like about using the WRX turbo !!

-3an line might be ok. I used a needle valve.

SWEET turbo for a SOHC car though !! great spool.

Stealthmode can hook you up with the proper oil line fitting for the inlet. I had to order my drain flange from fast-turbo/Flamenco-T on Honda-tech since Stealth doesn't carry them in the correct size.

The drain fitting for the 14b is the same size. ;)

i think i used 1/4" feed and 5/8" drain. i used the exisiting drain and coolant banjo fittings and clamped the lines.

i ordered the t25/14b oil feed/ return kit from stealth, the only thing i used was the tunertoyz block fitting. nothing else fit. i was using two bolts welded together for the turbo oil inlet fittng, then i finally found the right size from fast-turbo. using a
-4/10x1.5. also using an hf mani w/bmc adapter plate. exhaust housing on the left, if your using a big downpipe make sure you leave room for the clutch nipple thing. i've got a 3" dp, had to hit it with a ball hammer to clear that nipple.
other than that, the turbo is awsome, you can easily adjust the wastegate arm if you dont have a mbc. spools very nicely.
