Would This Work?

I have a high flow electric fan hooked up to a rheostat. The fan is mounted inline on my airbox with the air filter removed for flow reasons. The fan itself will push probably around 300 cfm of air at full speed. I am doing this just for fun, not as an actual project for my car, 1988 Buick LeSabre, 3.8L. Will this work? I have yet to try it cause im waiting to get a spot on the my colleges dyno to test horsepower again. I am currently running at 153hp. Tell me what you think will happen if anyting? any guesses on hp gains at full speed?

it will probably nothing, and if anything just restrict air

At ambient pressures maybe...but would guess that # will fall dramatically once pressures rise.
Kinda like fuel pump flow/pressure relationship.

My vote is 0 HP increase on the dyno.

Actually, the HMT crew did a little thing on this. It's in their tech section under electric supercharger. Jeff! What happened to the after pics of the "Electric Turbo/Supercharger" getting smashed with a bat?! I remeber that from a ways back before you did the updating. That was a classic.

Oh wait nevermind the pic is there, did a double check. The page isn't exactly aligned. Read what you see, when your done, scroll all the way to the bottom, yeah I know it's be a blank black screen, then scroll all the way to the right. You see some stuff.

thats funny, cause that page is perfectly aligned on every computer i tested it on, at 800x600 and up resolutions.

Well either way, messed up or not on our pc, it's there. It's a useful tech project if you want to go electric turbo. People on eBay used to bid $100+ on eBay, sometimes close to 200. Shiet I was considering it too at one point, to see whether or not it would actually make a difference, but Jeff and his boys saved me the 20+ whatever dollars that they go for nowadays. So Thank you HMT crew. With the money I saved I could put a gallon of gas in my car! (with the prices now, 2.00+ for 91, ouch!)

what I like to hear is when people compare them with turbos :)

Turbochargers spin at like over 60,000 RPM... wow. That's amazing to me.

Just an update, i did get my car on the dyno and there was a hp increase of 7hp under 2300rpm. Thats all, pretty much a waste of time.
