Re:wiring inline fuel pump

If you're replacing your old in-tank pump just use the stock wiring.

Been there, done that. Just get a good in-tank. I know thats not what you're question but just tryin to save you some hassle.

Re:wiring inline fuel pump

It doesn't matter if you're runnin one or both, use the stock wiring. Just splice off the old pump.

where does the intank wire go? i dont want to run wire all the way to the rear of the car, do they go into a harness that i can splice into?

Re:wiring inline fuel pump

Just look at the wires going into your old pump. You can splice into them anywhere you want.

Re:wiring inline fuel pump

do you mean inline even though you keep writing intank?...dont power two pumps off of the one wire unless you are using a relay.

Re:wiring inline fuel pump

i gotta agree with ghettoturbo. that wire is meant for 1 pump not 2.

find the ACC wire under your dash (turns on with ignition) and wire up a relay that will support the amperage the pump will pull.

Re:wiring inline fuel pump

what kind of relay do i need to get?

slowpoke 10-16-2004 11:16 PM

Re:wiring inline fuel pump

also can you be more specific than that, if i wire it to the acc wont it stay on as long as my key is in the 2 position? isnt that bad? specifically lets say i start over, where do i need to put my power wire ? im not that familiar with relays and such.

91 crx si. i know this is pretty n00b but wiring isnt my forte

Re:wiring inline fuel pump

first of all...are you putting in an inline or an intank pump?

slowpoke 10-17-2004 08:14 AM

Re:wiring inline fuel pump

inline, i just typed the wrong thing up above, i know where the acc plug is on my fuel pump, i can hook up there if thats right.

Re:wiring inline fuel pump

wire it up to the acc wire or something that comes on with the 2nd key position and use that as the switched power to a relay and run a seperate fused power wire to it as well...i wouldnt tap off the fuel pump wire at all

Re:wiring inline fuel pump

well, today i busted out the multi meter and tested the pump and all that jazz, it absolutely does not lower the current to the intank pump, if you wire it up off the acc the pump will continulely run even if the motor is not on.

Re:wiring inline fuel pump

I would run it off the intank circuit and use a basic 12v circuit relay to power them.
