Will this affect much?
 

I bought this Turbo from a friend. Its the TD04-15g from a Greddy kit. It spins freely and has minimal shaft play. The only problem is the chips on the cold side.

Will this hurt anything? If so, how much?

Ouch. :-X It will hurt the performance a bit, but I doubt you could notice the difference. Just make sure you get a good deal on it. ;)

there will be an effect...happened to a friend (sucked in the end of a vacuum hose) and he couldnt boost as high. if youre running low boost it might be fine, you could always get a new wheel

Do you guys really think it won't be useable? I have used a turbo in probably worse shape than that and I honestly didn't notice a damn bit of performance loss. I'm sure on a bench it would show a loss, but the butt dyno?

maybe not in terms of airflow. but sooner then later that missing material and the imbalnce cuase by it will destroy the turbo bearings.

I gave him $120. I still think its a decent deal. I could've paid the same amount and received a seized junk T3 or not received anything at all.

I think I'll give it a shot. Worse thing that happens is I need a rebuild or new turbo.

I'll call it "Project Ticking Time Bomb" ;D
