Will a 94'+ integra muffler be enough?

Ok, I finished my turbo kit about a month ago on my 94 civic ex. My whole plan was to have a complete sleeper (stock hubcaps and everything!) and to use the stock exhaust. Well, at first I was a little dissapointed because although it got a lot faster, I could only spool 5 psi on my 14b and it had so much lag. It didn't even really spool in 1st gear.
So my friend with a 95 teg is in the process of building a 400hp motor this winter and he was going to get the thermal r&d exhaust, so he gave me his straight through cat, and cat-back exhaust. It made a huge difference. All of a sudden I can spool by like 4000 rpm but now I'm stuck with a loud exhaust---which I hate and defeats my purpose.
So I tried using my stock muffler, with the bigger exhaust and the new cat and I was back to square one--only 5psi.
So I guess my question is--is it worth it to try a stock gsr or ls muffler? I know the piping is much bigger than my tiny civic ever had, but will it be enough yet keep me quiet? Also someone is selling an RSX type s muffler on HT for like $80 that's modified to work on a civic--is it worth it?
Oh, and btw, if anybody has that stock muffler laying around, do you want to donate it to me to try it out ;) Ill pay shipping!

I would go with a full custom 2.5" or 3" exhaust. Your purpose for turboing your car is to make it faster. If your purpose is to have a quiet car then keep it stock.

get full intergra piping and a gsr pan and gut the cat and remove the resognator. thats what i did, 8 psi no problem nice and quiet.

well I was planning on still using the straigh through cat and the mid eaxhaust, I am just wondering about the axle back portion with the muffler, so I guess an integra muffler would probably work?

Re:Will a 94'+ integra muffler be enough?

I'm hoping to do the same thing with the larger piping and teg muffler. I was boosting 5psi and I took the axle back off my car and the boost jumped to 9 psi with no changes at all !!! Of course I was running it though the factory 1'' DX piping. It has a gutted cat, but the muffler was just too restrictive, but now its kinda loud. My friend has a greddy fart piping with 2 1/2'' piping and his is louder than my car with no muffler at all !!!

I was thinking about the teg muffler and larger piping even when I was using nitrous...

Not meaning to sound like an ass, but we were thinking more in the "none fart pipe area" I think...

OEM = quite
OEM civic = normally crappy stuff, lower HP
OEM teg = normally good enough that replacing isn't going to give much power if any.

Just about anything aftermarket sounds like a fart pipe. Deep sounding fart pipe, loud sounding fart pipe, shining fart pipes, they are all still fart pipes and 99/100 of them are too loud for me ( more like 100/100, b/c I don't know of any aftermarket muffler that is as quite as stock, but increases power ).

you dont think replacing a teg muffler is going to improve performance much on a turbo car?...i sure do. It's up to you, but i'd live with more noise in exchange for letting my motor breath. Maybe thats just me, i like loud cars.

Re:Will a 94'+ integra muffler be enough?

I like sleepers too much I guess...
I just wish someone made a OEM quite muffler and aftermarket flow. I seems most companys TRY TO MAKE IT LOUDER...

Any 4 banger that isn't turbo doesn't need an aftermarket exhuast, but the turbo helps it sound a lot better, that's for sure.

Re:Will a 94'+ integra muffler be enough?

Why not try and find a factory turbo cars exhaust maybe from a dsm, then maybe it will flow better than the civic's and be quieter.

Re:Will a 94'+ integra muffler be enough?

the muffler i showed you is pretty much a stock muffler just bigger inlets and outlets...the guy who sells em showed me a picture and they look exactly the same and from what ive heard sound damn close to the same also...

$80 too....not bad for a quality muffler

Havn't you heard of the fartless fart can?

Anyways, i can't remember the name of it but its a 2 1/2 inch fart can that goes through itself 2 times and its completely silent, my friend has it on his turbo teg, i will give him a call later today and find out the name of it. its prety pricy though.

you could try a muffler off of a new eclipse, i think they are 2.5 inch

Re:Will a 94'+ integra muffler be enough?

Stock mufflers off other turbo cars is a good idea, but the reason I mentioned the intergra muffler is because it is a direct bolt on. I think I'm going to give it a try.....now if I could only find somebody that doesn't want their's.

Re:Will a 94'+ integra muffler be enough?

I hear the Apex'i WS mufflers are somewhat on the quieter side.

Re:Will a 94'+ integra muffler be enough?

try and accord v6 pan. use only one, cuz if you put both on your civic, then id have to call you a rice boy.

Re:Will a 94'+ integra muffler be enough?

just get a flowmaster or something like that. they look stock and just give a different tone. They do help to keep the car quieter. I just ordered a hooker 3" muffler for my Civic for $57.00 Its painted black, looks stock and just gives the car a different tone. Nobody will be able to tell its for performance (except for the 3" outlet)

Re:Will a 94'+ integra muffler be enough?
