Re: Why not to buy an MSP

I think this thing is getting a new turbo and then getting a big For Sale sign on it...I think i am going to have to drive the CRX for a little...ugh thats fun LS-T w/ stage 3 clutch on ice and snow, love the PA winters atleast this one dosen't seem to be to bad...

incase you didn't notice that black puddle in the compressor housing is probably the quart of oil I was low when i check the dip stick...the SMIC drained a ton out too...

Re: Why not to buy an MSP

My boy had the same problem with his MSP. He took it back to the dealer and they said they wouldn't fix it because he probably put a manual boost controller in it and destroyed the turbo and wanted a free fix. Problem was none of the lines were touched going to the turbo...he fought with them for 3 weeks to get it fixed. Supposedly they did, but it never did quite feel the same after that. 2 weeks later he crashed it into a telephone pole doing 75. Afterwards all he could say was thank god I got rid of that piece of ----. :P

Re: Why not to buy an MSP

MSP's are the ---- if you know what you're doing. Torquey little bastards. Besides who keeps a stock turbo on their car. It's you fault for not getting a t04e on there soon enough. Your first mistake is not getting the regional Mazdaspeed rep involved. Mazda has great customer service, if you bitch enough you won't have to paya dime. it should be still warrentied. Unless you modded the fawk out of the car.

Loserkidwac 01-28-2007 12:16 PM

Re: Why not to buy an MSP

The car is completely stock other than the catch can and some irdium plugs never touched the turbo or boost levels...I have 63K on it so it is out of warrenty but maybe I'll give mazda USA a call and see...there is no way a BB turbo should blow at 63K...I think i'm fixing it and then selling it...other big problems with these easts are the LSDs go and I'm not keeping it and waiting for that to happen...ugh :S

----, your kidding me - a mazda breaking down? Unheard of!! ::)

Here's what I'd do: get a new snail, buy some rusty tornup EG w/good motor, HMT that rustball, then sell the mazdashit protoge. At least if the HMT setup goes to ----, you're out $500 until you spend $100 to fix it.

Had to drive the CRX to work today LS-T w/ stage 3 clutch in Ice, Snow and Slush :S

Why not sell that gay ass MSP... and get an srt-4 i know there are a large amount of bashers but thats because nobody likes the neon and they are by no means hot cars but they are fuggin quick for what they are. The MSP is a nice looking car but they just blow in every other way

SRT-4s are just slow and annouyingly loud cars....

I think I am going pick up a Subie since this is my DD and I need something that can get me around in the snow...looking at a 2000 2.5rs...maybe do an sti swap or just an HMT kit to it >:D

The MSP is back on the road now I tracked down a turbo and I am cleaning her up and listing her for sale, probably not on here since everyone is cheap just like me and I'll get lowball offers :P

Ahh yes, but you can make an SRT-4 fast w/o spending a ton o'change or making massive internal mods.

^^^^ that's all I was tryin' to say, that the SRT-4 is not a slow car, not even in stock trim can it be considered SLOW...

It's still a Neon. I wouldn't be caught dead in one of those -----mobiles.

Worse yet, its a Chrysler product. Ask *any* tow-truck/wrecker driver what's the most common brand they pick up... :X

And they've been like that for a loooong time.

Are DSMs considered Chrysler? I'd imagine they would be.

Unibody Hundai's were running in the tens well before Hondas were. Just ask the guys in Puerto Rico.

Ehh, I don't know about that...there's a local guy that pretty much just upgraded his turbo (standard garrett to4e 60 trim) and fuel system and was cranking out well over 400hp on the local dyno. All on a stock block and head. I've read reports that the stock motor can handle 500hp, although that has to be pushing it.

The Coblat with the Stg 2 package is a pretty nice ride, for a domestic car.

Big difference between the T25 thats in there and a GT25. If someone on Club Protege or the likes was referring to it as a GT25, they meant T25 and G as in Garrett equaling GT25. There's a big difference in the turbos however.

Hmm, I think you are mistaken, it is indeed a GT Dual ball bearing turbo, I've never been on club protege either
