Who's running a T3 .60/(.63 or .48) turbo? How's your 4th?
Im running a T3 SVO turbo. .60/.63 on my stock D16z6. My 1st-3rd gears are great, but as soon as I hit fourth, it seems pretty laggy and really slow. Even when I start to make boost, the car isn't as fast as it usually seems.
Why is this happening?! Am i running this turbo out of it's efficiency range? I truely thought this turbo would be too big and laggy, but would make killer topend power. Also, it's not tuned yet, still on stock clutch, and @ 7psi. Any info or feedback would be really appreciated. Thanks! |

mmm, I would say that turbo is a bit too big for your engine. The clutch might have some effect on the lag also if it's slipping. Theres no vacuum leaks or boost leaks right?

my fourth pulled like crazy, but that was with the .48 housing...i think you are way out of the efficiency at 7 psi

ohhh damn, your probably ribght. I've got a .48 housing sitting on my other T3(but it's got blown seals) I think im gonna swap that thing out and put in the .48 and see how that works.
im also not tuned and running fairly conservative. 3 degree retard 93 octance 35% all the way across (running rich for safety) and 2 step colder plugs |

wow that should be -35% on the afc not +35%

btw i will trade you a 48 for your 63 ;D |

Problem fixed, timing was retarded too far, and my wastegate arm is too long and leaves the wastegate open partially causing a TON of lag in 4tgh. 4th now pulls AMAZING trhough in full boost Also leaned to -38 |

It seems a lot of people here "claim" this turbo is "too big" for a SOHC.. has anyone here actually tried it, and then formed a statement, not just "thinking" that "maybe" its too big, then everyone jumping on the bandwagon. Skittle has tried it, and it works. Not only does it work, but its "amazing" Perhaps this whole BS of this turbo being too big thing will finally die. |

yeah, this turbo is deinfately not too big.
It starts to create boost at 3000 RPM and it hauls ass after that. I was going too fast on a public road to even try to make it through 4th. Once I got on the freeway in 4th gear, 110mph came up pretty damn quickly lol. |

The .63 starts boost ~3000? I have the .48 exhaust housing. Anyone know when it starts and around where does it reach 8 psi? It's going on a bone stock z6.
