whoo hoo finally done with my setup UPDATE: PICS!!

Thank you HMT, i finally got my ---- all done and have a fast ass 244k d16a6 mile 10psi t3/t4e crx! this engine wont last too long but its gonna be fun for that month or so.

i just gotta polish out a few little things like overheating(think there is air in the head, the rad is really low) and blowing off charge pipe connections. but over all its badass!!

tomorrow i will post pics, i gotta take em when its light out.

Nice setup man. I bet the t3/t4 pulls real nice. That was a great find on that car at $650. Let us know how it runs and trading in the bottle for FI wasn't so bad was it? Or do you still have the Zex Rex?

Re:whoo hoo finally done with my setup UPDATE: PICS!!

Re:whoo hoo finally done with my setup UPDATE: PICS!!

nice, wish i could find an SI that clean for 650. Only thing wrong was the headgasket? Have you braced that mani yet?

ZexRex 08-14-2003 12:42 PM

Re:whoo hoo finally done with my setup UPDATE: PICS!!

ya the story on the car was he said the timing belt slipped or broke.. so i was like ok that engine is gone. but it was fine.

only things wrong were:
244k miles
ac didnt work
hood was dented and barely closed
pass seat ripped (dime sized)
headgasket blown (oil in coolant)
windshield cracked

overall a very clean car and a hell of a find. it was in podunk tennessee. the guy barely knew what the car was.

never buy a crx off the internet they are WAY overpriced for what they are.

and i put the bottle on my 96 2.3l ranger, haha its just for fun. i will prob sell it soon.

Re:whoo hoo finally done with my setup UPDATE: PICS!!

im getting boost around 3-4k rpm, yes the turbo is way too big for this engine its temporary

ok so i went to race tonight, i installed a boost controller 5 mins before i left but i fucked it up somehow and am only running 7 psi.. grr. i didnt have anything to adjust it with either mother #@$#@$!

fastest car out was a b18c civic i/h/e/chip/some other ---- (NOONE was out there, hey its thurs at midnight)

first race with mr b18c civic.. i cant drive.. burned out thru 1st and second, then my charge pipe blew off in third
so i let off

2nd race same civic, from a 10mph roll, got thru first, second tires broke loose, redlined, missed third, caught up to him in third after missing shift, then shift to fourth and there goes charge pipe = 0psi he got about a car length on me.

so then i was like ---- this i gotta learn to race this car turbo, tighten my charge pipes, and fix this boost controller. i can rape that b18 civic i mean he pulled away when i missed a shift and i caught right back up hah.

i want to run 12 psi on this engine not weak ass 7-8, thats -----. i wish i didnt have to go to school tomorro or i would stay home and work on my car non stop.

i wanted to rape the slutstang but he has i/h/e/cams/125 shot. gonna have to wait for the next motor on that one.

the problem with the turbo setup is the crap ass 244k mile d16a6, i got a zc to put in but i really want b series. eh well i will see.

Re:whoo hoo finally done with my setup UPDATE: PICS!!

20, when i say school i mean college, im goin to florida from missouri, im not drivin the car b/c i just finished the setup, i have only driven the car about 500 miles n/a and about 5 or 10 turbo, i just got it done and dont really like driving wo/exhaust.

i haden't raced (or even really given it real hell) till tonigh. i cant drive my car yet and it keeps blowing charge pipes, so what, i will fix both of those.

ZexRex 08-15-2003 01:46 AM

Re:whoo hoo finally done with my setup UPDATE: PICS!!

sorry if i sound like a 16yr old who cant drive, right now im just tired as hell. i can drive i just cant get traction or keep the charge pipeing together.

Looks great man!!
I love that manifold! :D

Re:whoo hoo finally done with my setup UPDATE: PICS!!

Yeah I think your the first one on HMT who I've seen using that manifold. Everyone alway's say's they are junk. How's it holding up so far? Any cracks?

ZexRex 08-21-2003 11:41 AM

Re:whoo hoo finally done with my setup UPDATE: PICS!!

so far its fine, but i only used it for a week. now my car is just chillin 1000 miles away under a car cover.

so now im savin for a b18c swap hehe

the mcmaster part numbers are in a post in the faq.. the post was on hondatech.

Re:whoo hoo finally done with my setup UPDATE: PICS!!

Yeah , i like that manifold and i think they look sweet but everyone says they are crap and they always crack, update us when it does..and if not i might get one... or not. Just let us know..

Re:whoo hoo finally done with my setup UPDATE: PICS!!

charge pipes still blowing off? try welding a bear around the lip of all the charge pipes and double clamp that thing! :) good luck, keep me and us updated!

TLshizz 08-21-2003 02:11 PM

Re:whoo hoo finally done with my setup UPDATE: PICS!!

that is quiet pretty, i love the manifolds they are sweet, and the fmic is awsome too, nice job, too bad it might not last that long o well, it'll be fun ;D

ZexRex 08-23-2003 06:49 PM

Re:whoo hoo finally done with my setup UPDATE: PICS!!

ya i sanded the charge pipes with 100 grit where the connectors are and that keeps them together.

i am gonna weld a bseries flange on that manifold when i get my b18c1 built. i think it will be fine, the welds have very good penetration and it looks nothing like the super shitty obx manifold.
