Who has the Best HP/Cost Ratio? (SOHC)

I searched, but did not find a thread like this. If a similar thread exists, please post a link. :)

Like the title says, which one of you SOHC'ers has the best HP/Cost ratio on your turbo setup?

Please provide:
Cost
HP/TQ numbers

Well, time is money. Some guys make alot of their own ----, some get it made by a pro. Something like you spend x hours making an adapter for your mani to turbo, or you spend 50 bucks for a cnc one. Same with fabbin downpipe, programming... I saw somewhere on here a kid spent less then 250 for all his parts (-afc hack). Personally, I'm to scared to add up all my receipts and crap to get a total spent. My cars not even close to done. It's like a bad addiction.

Re:Who has the Best HP/Cost Ratio? (SOHC)

These are always a problem b/c people ( like me ) get the BOV, turbo, and IC for free...
I paid $50 for my HF manifold ( could have got one free if I'd have waited )
$40 for my adaptor plate
and $26 for PVC iC piping...

So I have less than $150 in what most people pay more than $500 bucks for... B/c most people don't get turbo etc. for free...

Now if we added "going price" to my total...
WRX turbo 2K miles = $200
Big FMIC = $250
IC piping = at least $100
now were talking...

I have friends that "hook me up", but most people don't have nice friends like that..
I really paid $265 for my Apexi AFC... and I jacked the DSM 450ccs..

No downpipe yet..

best one i have seen was a d16z6 with massive t3/to4e, race gas, 16psi, afc and dyno time. layed down 300hp.

thats your best hp/cost ratio but it will not last for very long maybe 6 months to a year if its daily driven at 10 psi and raced at 16psi with race gas.

that would be the cheapest sohc way to go for the most hp. if you want it reliable and more hp you need a stronger engine like a bseries or a built dseries.

Maybe I should have been more clear in my original post. I'm not a dumb n00b that wants to build a 1000hp SOHC. I'm just getting a feeler for how much I'd be looking to spend on a modest kit and looking for tips on how to get stuff cheap, if not free.

Re:Who has the Best HP/Cost Ratio? (SOHC)

umm it all depends on budget..
$500 = ok kit from junkyard and almost no fuel mgt
$1000 = better kit and better fuel mgt
$2500 = my kit, t3/t4e, equal length mani, standalone

it all depends on what you want. in my opinion if you want your car to be quicker on the street go for a dseries but a bseries is pretty much necessary when going for big hp numbers on the track.

as far as cheap stuff buy everything used, go to junkyards for parts, check classifieds etc. theres no miracle way to go fast for free or really cheap unless you dont give a ---- about it blowing up.

just shop around...my first setup cost me about 150 using an fmu and an inline pump, the setup in my sig cost under 300 with an smc500, 450s, intank 255, 1g dsm bov, cut down powerstroke ic, and a 48/60 t3
